By the end of 6th grade, students will be able to: Explain the impacts of location, climate, physical characteristics, natural resources, and population size on these regions Describe the cultural and historical characteristics of these regions Describe the impact of governmental policies and individual behaviors on these regions Describe different economic systems and economic policies as they relate to these regions Procedures and Activities: Students will continue to work on their note taking skills, listening skills, reading comprehension, and giving better oral and written responses. Students will participate on individual and group projects (which may include oral presentations). Students are expected to participate in daily discussions. Tests include all formats: multiple choice, true/false, matching, short answer, and fill in the blank. Yearly Course Outline The actual amount of time on each topic may change according to student progress. Parents, please remember that the textbook and coach books will be used resources. It is imperative that students take good notes and look over hand-outs daily. Quarter 1: Map Skills, Economies, Governments, and the 3 Monotheistic religions Quarter 2: Europe (Physical, Economic, Cultural, and Historical) Quarter 3: Latin America (Physical, Economic, Cultural, and Historical) Quarter 4: Canada and Australia (Physical, Economic, Cultural, and Historical), 7th grade preview Tutoring: Tutoring is offered on Thursdays or by request from 2:30 3:00 PM. *If you feel your student needs more tutoring, they will be made upon request and availability. *Please remember, tutoring is for students of all ability levels, not just those who are struggling academically. Make-Up Work - Students are responsible for asking for make-up work from the teacher. All makeup work must be completed by the end of the quarter in which it was assigned, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
