Highlights:
1. ThismeetingisatransitionalmeetingoftheoldBoardtothenewBoard.Eachprevious
andcurrentofficerattendingthemeetingintroducesthemselves(Fordetails,seeMinutes
2:302:36).Theysaytheirname,grade,position,andwhattheyaremostlooking
forwardstointheupcomingyear.
2. Ms.FoleytalksaboutthesituationwiththeCommunityServiceCzar.Thisrolewillbe
chosenbasedoffofasubmission.ThecurrentBoardwillreviewthesesubmissionsand
voteonthenewCommunityServiceCzar.ThiswilloccurinSeptember.Asheetto
collectcontactinformationhasbeensentaroundtheroom,beforethemeeting.Michael
emphasizestheimportanceofcommunicationandmeetingattendance.
3. Thepresentpreviousofficersgiveadvicetothenewpersonoftheirrole,orsimply
generaladvicetoallnewofficers(SeeMinutes2:402:49).
4. TheBookWrappingEventisdiscussed.Theofficersthisyearhavemoretimetoprepare
forthisthanlastyear,becausethefirstmeeting(thisone)isthreemonthsearlierthanthe
firstmeetingoflastyear.TheBookWrappingeventwillbeinearlySeptember,and
shouldappealtoallgrades,notonlyseventhandeighthgraders.Michaelstatesthatevery
officershouldhelpwiththis,asmanydifferentrolesareneeded.
5. ThedateoftheBakeSaleistouchedupon.TheproposeddateisDecember16th,
althoughthishasnotbeenformallyconfirmed.TheeventmustberegisteredwithMr.

Flynnonthefirstdayofschool,toensurethatthedesireddateisavailable.Ms.Foley
saysthatLupercaliawouldbeafeasiblebackupdate.
6. TheExtracurricularFairPosterisdiscussed.ThecoHistoriansshouldlookitover,and
decidewhattheymaywanttochange,beforetheendofthisschoolyear.
7. Fortherestofthemeeting,miscellaneoustopicsarediscussed.Mollytalksabouttheidea
ofhavingaSecretSaturnalia.Theavailabledatesforthenextmeetingarerevealed,
andMichaelwillsendoutaDoodlepollregardingthis.Carinatalksaboutsigningupfor
theRoslindaleParade.AnnatalksabouttheHalloweenCostumeevent.Ms.Foley
mentionsthatallBoardmembersinthefuturemustbetakingaClassicscourse.Therest

applicantsshallwriteaonepagedocumentaboutwhattheywishtodowiththeposition,why
theywanttorunforoffice,andwhateventsthattheywanttodo.Theyshouldbeknowledgeable
aboutnationallevelcompetitions,andresearchpossibilitiesforprojectsoverthesummer.In

Boardmeetingscanbeimpeached,althoughMichaeldoubtsthatthishaseverhappenedbefore.

transitionalmeetingwasmuchlaterlastyear(September3,2014),sothereismoretimeto
preparefortheeventthisyear.Sheexplainsthatcurrentlytheeventismeanttoappealespecially
toseventhandeighthgraders.Allgradesneedtohavebookswrapped,soshestatesthatthe

Michaeltalksaboutthebakesale.Everyyearthereisabakesale.Onthefirstday
ofschool,thedateofthebakesaleneedstobereserved,andusuallythereisalonglineofpeople
waitingtoreserveaspotinfrontofMr.Flynnsoffice.Thus,thereservationmustbedoneonthe
firstdayofschool.Michaelssaysthatitistooearlytodecidethedate,butmentionsthatitwas
onSaturnalialastyear,whichhappenedtobeMs.Foleysbirthday.December17isaThursday
thisyear,andthebakesaleisusuallyonaWednesday.Michaelbringsuptheideaofhavingiton
the16th,whichhappenstobeMichaelsbirthday.Thiswillmostlikelybefinalizedinthe

currentstate.TherearemanypeoplewhowantscholarshipsforNationalConvention.The
participationinthetwofundraisersisdisproportionatecomparedtotheamountofclubmembers.
TheTreasurersneedtofindbetterwaystogetthismoney,orelseBLSJCLwillhavetostop
givingscholarships.TheBoardisresponsibleforhelpinggetthismoney.IftheHeadTreasurer

bestowsuponthem.

willnotrequireareservationatthebeginningoftheyear.First,youhavetopayadollarto
participateintheevent.Thenyoufilloutawishlistofwhatyouwantinyourbasket,andseta
maximumofhowmuchmoneyyouwanttobespentonyourbasket(Mollysexamplewasten
dollars.).AroundthetimebeforeChristmasVacation,youreceivesomeoneelsesbag/wishlist,
