Reflection Paper

As I watched the SONA of President Rodrigo Duterte last July 25, 2016, I became fully
aware of something that is happening in the Philippines. I came to realize that my
country is facing big changes in different aspects.
On his speech, our president wants to lessen the environmental problems that our
country is facing at the moment. His action on reviewing permits on logging and mining
is a call to respond in the global environmental problems that we have. As a citizen, I
must show my willingness to act in favour of the environment, such as choosing an
environmentally friendly transportation mode.
I felt happy about the resolutions of President Duterte such as the development of the
National Broadband Plan and the free Wifi Access to public places. This will make my
school tasks easy to do in an efficient, time-saving, and effective way.
The improvement of public services also brings bells to my ears. Imagine, I wont need
to wait on a long cue of line anymore but instead, there will be a faster and effective way
of rendering their services. This will lessen our spending in renewing those documents.
The president further introduced the Universal Health Insurance, rice subsidy to the
poor Filipino family as well as responsible parenthood and reproductive health law. I can
be of help by joining The Youth Advocacy Movement spreading information about
sexual and reproductive health on young people like me.
The president is still after the PEACE that we have been longing for. He wants to give
us the security so that we wont feel scared anymore especially in our own land.
Generally, I feel that it is also a challenge accepted for me. I have to do my part as a
citizen of this country so that in my simple little ways, I can be of help to our Mother
Land. I am looking forward for the more progress and development of our country.
