Chapter 2 Exercise Short Answers

1. First design:
Advantage: Simpler design and needing fewer switches.
Disadvantage: If one of the bulb stops working, the second one will not be able to run as
current will not be able to flow through. Furthermore the two bulbs cannot be controlled
separately.
Second design:
Advantage: When one of the bulb stop working, the other will not be affected, and each
switches control each bulbs separately.
Disadvantage: More complex design, requiring more switches to build.
