1. Performance Objective #1: Geometry and Measurement

111.3. Grade 1, Adopted 2012.
(b) Knowledge and skills.
(6) Geometry and measurement. The student applies mathematical
process standards to analyze attributes of two-dimensional shapes and
three-dimensional solids to develop generalizations about their properties.
The student is expected to:
(C) create two-dimensional figures, including circles, triangles,
rectangles, and squares, as special rectangles, rhombuses, and
hexagons;

This type of activity could be used in my classroom after I have taught a lesson in shapes
where the student identifies and classifies according to sides.
2. Performance Objective #2: Geometry and Measurement
111.3. Grade 1, Adopted 2012.
(b) Knowledge and skills.
(6) Geometry and measurement. The student applies mathematical
process standards to analyze attributes of two-dimensional shapes and
three-dimensional solids to develop generalizations about their properties.
The student is expected to:
(D) identify two-dimensional shapes, including circles, triangles,
rectangles, and squares, as special rectangles, rhombuses, and
hexagons and describe their attributes using formal geometric
language;
This type of activity would reinforce shapes and allow the student to create composite
shapes using only the basic 3, 4, 5, and possibly 6 sided figures.
