Class Activity Report 22nd July, 2016

Class Activity was organised on Layout Planning dated 22nd

July, 2016. The objective was to design a layout for a workshop
for a transportation company having fleet of 100 buses in a half
acre of given piece of land. Each group was asked to come out
with a suitable layout design on a chart paper and were also told
to consider the various external and internal factors to design the
layout.
The layout design activity had a good impact on the
teaching and the way the students learnt. The students were
given 60 minutes to plan the things and 90 minutes to design the
layout on the chart paper.
Each group came up with innovative methods and were
unique in their own way. Some of the unique ideas were having
a multilevel work environment, using the technology of
hydraulics, etc. The ideas were very creative and focused on
utilising the space effectively. The teams also exhibited excellent
team work and were successful in designing the layouts as per
the objectives.
At the end of the hour, each group presented their ideas and
were individually evaluated and were given suggestions for
improvement by Prof. Padmanabh and the MBA coordinator - Prof.
Jeevananda.
