    Abstract: Kuwait has a long track record in renewable energy systems dating back to early
    1980s. There are currently a number of major renewable energy projects planned or under
    tenderinginKuwait.Thispresentationwillshedlightonsomeoftheoldandnewambitious
    projects that have been established in Kuwait. Also, the rising energy demand poses great
    challengestotheenergygenerationsector,fossilfuelsandrenewablesources,suchchallenges
    willbeaddressedanddiscussed.

    Biography: Dr. Ayedh Alqahtani is an assistant professor at the electrical engineering


    department, College of Technological Studies, PAAET. He received his B.Sc. degree from the
    UniversityofNorthCarolinaatCharlottein2000,M.Sc.degreefromtheUniversityofSouthern
    Californiain2005,andthePh.D.degreeinelectricalengineeringfromtheOhioStateUniversity
    in2013.Hiscurrentresearchinterestsincludesmartgridcontrol,impactofrenewableenergy
    on power systems, energydemandmanagement, and rural electrification usingrenewable
    energy.
