Discuss the qualitative issues that might be associated with the arrangement
and location of warehouse departments?
Qualitative issues: Time related cost issue: - In adequate positioning of departments in the
warehouse layout will restrict the flow of goods as goods will pass through
departments which are even not required, resulting in an increase in time
contributing to increase in cost.
Operating flexibility issue: - To meet the customer needs warehouse department
layout should be such as that there is no confusion among all the departments
and flow of products throughout the process is smooth.
Human resource issue: - only those departments which are necessary should be
placed in the layout design that will save unnecessary involvement of manpower
which may not be required ultimately saving in cost.
