USE OF MOBILE PHONES AND OTHER ELECTRONIC GADGETS IN SCHOOLS

With the current changes taking place in this 21st Century, technology is becoming
the core of everything not only in the financial, agricultural, infrastructural, mining
and many other sectors of economy but also in education sector.
Management in schools, teaching and learning in and out of school setting require
adoption and use of technology. The current learners in the schools require 21 st
century skills to be better in this ever changing world. The role of teachers and
learners in the teaching and learning process has changed. With technology learning
is easier, enjoyable, accessible anywhere anytime and teachers are no longer the
only source of knowledge.
With the above understanding learners should be provided with ICT tools for
learning including mobile phones and other electronic gadgets which can help them.
The Cabinet Secretary in charge of Education Dr. Fred Matiangi should call all
stakeholders in education for a national dialogues to discuss and have a way
forward.
