The Info You Need To Know About

Farm Animal Cloning

One of the most common types of cloning

techniques to produce an embryo is called
somatic cell nuclear transfer, also called SCNT.

By Patrick Colwell
FICTION

FACT
Using cow cells with SCNT, only 1
out 49 cow embryos successfully
develop into fetuses.

Cloning is dangerous to
the animal or thing who is
being cloned.

The only thing the one

being cloned loses is a
swab of DNA.

Clones have the same

behaviors and memories
of their predecessor.

Memories, thought
processes, and
behaviors are encoded in
neurological paths, and
are not embedded in the
DNA strands.

Every and all cloned

animals have short lives
and suffer from health
problems.

Many cloned animals have

succeeded massively, and
while some have had
problems, as science
advances those kinks will be
worked out.

Cloning is a technology
about making more
animals.

Cloning is a relatively new

process, but it is mainly used
nowadays for cloning and
harvesting organs.

Cell Nucleus

Egg Cell Nucleus

You replace the egg nucleus with the cell

nucleus of the farm animal you want to
clone, it then develops into a into a embryo.

Using sheep cells with SCNT, only 1

out 36 sheep embryos successfully
develop into fetuses.

Why Cloning Matters

Cloning is not a very
successful process in the
entire world and it still needs
a lot of refinement, most
methods produce a ~2%
success rate.

Cloning is always perfect

and has a great success
rate.

One of the main uses of cloning is to selectively breed. While in the

cloning process scientists can modify the DNA so it is genetically
perfect as possible while breeding. While cloning a cow, you can
customize it to each farmers choice. For instance: disease
prevention, suitability to climate, fertility, and lastly market
preference. With these advanced breeding techniques we could
prefect the food produced from large groups of livestock. Also,
while it is not the main point of cloning, meat produced by cloned
animals has also been confirmed by the FDA to be safe for
consumption by both animals and humans.
