The metro has been promoted as an integral part of community

infrastructure, and community artwork depicting the local way

of life has been put on display at stations. Students of local art
colleges have also designed decorative murals at Metro
Stations, while pillars of the viaduct on some elevated sections
have been decorated with mosaic murals created by local
school children. The metro station at INA colony has a gallery
showcasing artwork and handicrafts from across India, while all
stations on the central secretariat Qutub Minar section of the
yellow line have panels installed on the monumental
architectural heritage of Delhi. The Nobel Memorial wall at rajiv
chowk has potraits of the seven Nobel Laureates from India;
Rabindranath Tagore, CV Raman, Hargobind Khorana, Mother
Teresa, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, Amartya Sen and
Venkatraman Ramakrishnan and provide details about their
contribution to society and a panel each on Alfred Nobel and
Nobel Prizes.

DMRC INSTITUTE.
DMRC trains its staff at the DMRC training institute.
DMRC in partnership with the Indian Institute Of Technology,
Delhi offers a one year post graduate diploma in metro
technology. The course produces 25 executives an year to staff
metros across India.

TYPES OF MEDIA:
Wired
Wire Less
Difficulties Faced in a communication system:

Bandwidth
Noise( EMI/RFI)
Loss ( channel loss )

OPTICAL FIBRE:
CHARACTERISTICS OF AN OPTICAL FIBRE:

Large bandwidth( few GHz )

Low Loss (0.02 db/km)
Less distortion.
Low cost.

Core ( 9um ) and cladding (125 um ) in single mode.

Types of core in fibre: 12,24,36,48 and 96.
Group of 8 or 12 cores a set in a tube.
Analog channel having a Voice Frequency range of 300-3300 Hz of 3
bit encoder is used in sampling process.
Quantization Levels=2^3=8 levels.
Bandwidth=64 kbps
64 kbps is also called as Time Slot or Basic Rate or One telephonic
channel.
E-1 Carrier System ( Data Rate )= 32 Time Slots=b32*64 kbps=
2.048 Mbps.

Radio System
The radio system comprise the following main functional
elements :

Train Radio to OCC and vice versa.

Hand portable to OCC and vice versa.
Hand portable to DCC and vice versa.
SCR to OCC and Hand portable/Train mobiles and vice
versa.
Emergency call between the train borne mobile and
hand portable as well as between hand portables.

Telecommunication
Systems
Types of Telecommunication used in DMRC :

Fiber Optics
Master Clock
NP-SCADA (Non Powered Controlling)
Radio System
Telephone System
CCTV System
PA System
PIDS System

SDH
SDH stands for Synchronous Digital Hierarchy
Single mode/1310 nm optical fiber is used in DMRC

Basics of SDH :

Star Topology
Bus Topology
Tree Topology
Mesh Topology
Ring Topology

A Communication System should be :

Faster
Less Complex
Cheap
Reliable
