EXT. WEDDING RECEPTION - NIGHT

We arrive at the tail end of a WEDDING RECEPTION. The BRIDE
and GROOM, happy as ever, make their way through the crowd
of FRIENDS and FAMILY. Smiles, cheers, the whole nine. The
two lovers hold hands as they leave their supporting attendees
and approach the waiting LIMO. We see the "JUST MARRIED"
sign on the back end of the car. The DRIVER, wearing a hat,
hard to see his face in the night, opens the door to the
Groom and DISTRACTED Bride. She gets in first, followed by
the Groom, who gives one last wave to crowd.
INT.

LIMO - CONTINUOUS

The Groom enters, as the Bride is looking behind her out of

the back window, admiring the celebration. The Groom stares
at her, admiring her instead. She faces him.
I love you.

GROOM

She smiles.
I love you.

BRIDE

They kiss.
BRIDE (CONT'D)
It was so good right?
GROOM
It was perfect. I was so hesitant
on getting a band over a DJ but so
many people came up to me and said
how much they loved all the music.
I know.

BRIDE
I feel so good.

Look at us.
I know.

GROOM
BRIDE

GROOM
Who knew we were so good.
I knew.

BRIDE

GROOM
Well, you're much smarter then I am.

2.
Another smile.

The groom looks out the window.

BRIDE
How long until we get to the hotel.
Eager?

GROOM

She smiles his humor.

GROOM (CONT'D)
20 minutes maybe.
BRIDE
How much do you love me?
Depends?

GROOM

BRIDE
Would you do anything for me?
GROOM
I would do anything for you.
BRIDE
I feel like I barely ate. You know
what I could go for?
What?

GROOM

BRIDE
Ben and Jerry's. "Everything But
The..."
Oh my god.
What?!
Obsessed.

GROOM
BRIDE
GROOM

BRIDE
Please me, husband.
He looks at her, adoring these sort of moments.
The groom faces ahead. He rolls down the widow separating
the driver and the passengers.

GROOM
(in a fake commanding
voice)
Driver. To the nearest gas station!
Pronto!
The bride smiles and look ahead, connecting eyes with the
driver in the rear view mirror. It's as if they are staring
at each other. Her face drops, in an instance, now as white
as her dress.
LIMO DRIVER
Will do, Sir.
The groom lets out a small laugh, pleased with the transaction
He rolls it back up and faces his loving Wife.
GROOM
You get everything you want.
She can't help feeling whatever it is she is feeling. But
she tries her best to disguise it. She let's out a smile.
The Groom knows something is up.
GROOM (CONT'D)
What's wrong?
Hmm?
What's up?

BRIDE
GROOM

She forces a smile and grabs his hand.

Nothing.
She faces the window.

BRIDE
He's still not convinced.

GROOM
Did I say something?
Almost crying now, but she does her best to hold it back.
Baby...

GROOM (CONT'D)

She faces him smiling.

BRIDE
I'm fine. Let's forget the ice cream
and just go back to the hotel. It's
been such a long day.

4.
GROOM
Okay, see now I know something is
wrong. You don't forget ice cream.
You'll eat it anytime, anywhere.
Sweetie...

BRIDE

She just looks at her.

Drop it.

BRIDE (CONT'D)

He can't help but be offended. He turns his head.

both stare out of their own windows. Silence.
Suddenly the separating window goes down.
jump. The groom notices this.

It makes the Bride

LIMO DRIVER
A gas station is coming up in about
a mile.
The groom stares at the Bride while talking to the driver.
Sounds good.

GROOM

The window goes back up.

I can't.

The Bride continues to stare out

GROOM (CONT'D)

BRIDE
You can't what.
GROOM
I can't...drop it. Not tonight.
You're sort of freaking me out.
I'm sorry.

BRIDE

GROOM
You don't have to apologize. But
talk to me. I can't sit here and
have both of us pretend something
isn't going on. Something flipped a
switch in you and I feel like normally
I could let it slide but, and forgive
for being a clich, today is supposed
to be the happiest day of our lives.

Exactly.
Exactly...?

BRIDE
GROOM

BRIDE
It is the happiest day and I want
more then anything for it to stay
that way.
GROOM
Why wouldn't it?
She can't really help it. She let's out a huge sigh. The
kind of sigh that you let out to prevent any hysterical
crying.
GROOM (CONT'D)
Again, you're kind of freaking me
out.
BRIDE
I don't know what to say...
GROOM
Did something happen.
She begins to tear up and nods her head...
What?
A long beat.

GROOM (CONT'D)

He waits.

BRIDE
Do you remember the conversation we
had about a year into our
relationship.
GROOM
We had a lot of conversations.
BRIDE
The one...the one that was very hard
for me to discuss.
It hits him.

He knows what it is she's talking about.

GROOM
What does that have to do with right
now?
She composes herself and looks toward the drivers window.
Tinted.

6.
GROOM (CONT'D)
Are you telling me, it's him.
BRIDE
I don't know.
GROOM
You're acting like you know.
BRIDE
If it is, or if it isn't, it just
swung into my mind and I wish I was
strong enough for it to not let it
get to me...overcome me. But it's
impossible. I'm sorry.
He takes a moment.
GROOM
Don't say you're sorry.
She cries.

He holds her.

She puts her face in his chest.

GROOM (CONT'D)
Did you see him? Or just hear him...
She doesn't answer at first.
face against his body
His eyes.
What?

But then, muffled through her

BRIDE
GROOM

She lifts her head.

His eyes.

BRIDE

GROOM
Maybe they just reminded you of it
quickly. Then in an instant you
were brought back there...
She doesn't answer.
GROOM (CONT'D)
Right? Sometimes moments just flip
a switch and you're reminded of
something. I doubt it's him.
BRIDE
I want to believe you.
(MORE)

BRIDE (CONT'D)
More then anything, especially right
now. I wish I could tell you I forgot
his eyes, but I can't. I see them
all the time.
He holds her closer.
The window comes down again. At this point she is frightened.
He only speaks by looking in the rear view.
LIMO DRIVER
We're pulling up now. I can grab
whatever you need in there.
The groom pulls it together.
BRIDE
(whispering to the
groom)
Let's just get back to the hotel.
The groom looks at her and then to the driver.
GROOM
Ben and Jerry's..."Everything But
The..."
LIMO DRIVER
Great choice. I'll be right back.
His car door opens, then shuts and then we hear his footsteps
as they get further.
GROOM
Listen...we're not going to let this
ruin us right now or ever.
BRIDE
Look at me, he already has ruined
things.
GROOM
I'll be right back...
What?

BRIDE
Where are you going.

GROOM
I'm going to get his ID.
What?

BRIDE

GROOM
He'll have some sort of ID in the
front.
BRIDE
He won't be gone long.
GROOM
I want to end this.

This is crazy.

A beat.
GROOM (CONT'D)
Come with me.
Where?

BRIDE

GROOM
To the front. Look at the picture
and we'll go from there.
BRIDE
I don't want to do that.
GROOM
You'll see it's not him.
BRIDE
And what if it is...
A long beat.
GROOM
Then it is...
She contemplates and finally nods her head in agreement.
They exit the car from the side not facing the station. The
groom opens the passenger side door. We get a CU of the ID.
The Groom opens the door for the Bride.
Go ahead.

GROOM (CONT'D)

She hesitates and the goes for it. We stay with the Groom
who is looking at the gas station. The car is parked at a
good distance. He can see the driver waiting on line. The
bride emerges.
She nods her head yes.
GROOM (CONT'D)
Are you sure?

9.
BRIDE

Yes.

The groom takes out his cell phone.

BRIDE (CONT'D)
What are you doing?
Calling 911.

GROOM

BRIDE
What are you going to say?
GROOM
I'm going to tell them what is going
on.
BRIDE
But I don't even know what's going
on.
He stops dialing.
Is it him?

GROOM

BRIDE
I'm pretty sure.
GROOM
I need you to be more then pretty
sure.
BRIDE
I'm sure. Okay...I'm sure. I
just...He's going to come back any
minute.
GROOM
Don't worry about that.
He goes to call.

He begins moving around.

GROOM (CONT'D)
I have no service.
BRIDE
We're in the middle of upstate.
He's growing more frustrated.
GROOM
I'll keep trying.

10.
Bride looks past the Groom.
back.

She sees the Limo Driver walking

GROOM (CONT'D)
Come on you stupid phone.
He's coming.

BRIDE

The Groom looks at her and then turns around.

approaches them with a bag in his hand.

The driver

LIMO DRIVER
Everything okay?
He stops. Groom and Bride look at each other.
begins to walk toward them.
GROOM
Stop right there.
He stops.

Confused.
Okay...

LIMO DRIVER

GROOM
Just don't move for a second.
LIMO DRIVER
Is there something wrong?
in the car.

Something

GROOM
Do you have a cell phone on you?
Yes.

LIMO DRIVER

GROOM
Give it to me.
The driver is even more lost.
Excuse me?

LIMO DRIVER

GROOM
Give me your phone.
LIMO DRIVER
Okay, maybe you can tell me what
this is all about before I do that.
The driver begins to walk over again.

The Limo Driver

GROOM
I said don't fucking move.
This lands hard.
LIMO DRIVER
Okay, sir, I'm not sure what's wrong.
But maybe I can call someone for
you.
GROOM
No, I'm calling someone for you.
need to call the police.

He's bewildered at this point. Groom looks to his wife.

It's him.

BRIDE
It's definitely him.

LIMO DRIVER
I'm sorry, did something happen?
BRIDE
Yes, something happened.
4 years ago.

April 12,

A long beat.
BRIDE (CONT'D)
You raped me.
There is silence.
Excuse me?

LIMO DRIVER
Is this a joke?

GROOM
No, it's not a fucking joke.
LIMO DRIVER
Okay, let's calm down for a second..
GROOM
Give me your phone.
LIMO DRIVER
Sir, i will not give you my phone.
Now clearly there's a
misunderstanding.
BRIDE
I would recognize you from anywhere.

12.
LIMO DRIVER
Recognize me? I've never seen you
before. I didn't even live in this
state 4 years ago.
He's lying.

BRIDE

The driver looks to the groom, hoping for him to have some
doubt.
LIMO DRIVER
Look, I'm not lying. Maybe you all
had too much to drink and it's a big
night. Let's just get back in the
car, I'll drive you to the hotel and
that will be that.
GROOM
No. That's not going to happen.
What's going to happen is you're
going to give me your phone, I'm
going to call the police and we'll
wait for them to straighten this
whole thing out.
LIMO DRIVER
Why do I have to do what you say?
A beat.
LIMO DRIVER (CONT'D)
I have a job, a family...this is one
big misunderstanding.
GROOM
If it's such a big misunderstanding
then you should have no issue letting
me make that phone call.
LIMO DRIVER
Is this what you really want to do
on your wedding night?
BRIDE
No, it's not.
LIMO DRIVER
I'll be leaving now.
GROOM
No you won't.
The Limo Driver begins ot walk toward the car.
steps in his way.

GROOM (CONT'D)
We're not through here.
Let me by.

LIMO DRIVER

He tries to walk again but this time the Groom puts his body
against his.
LIMO DRIVER (CONT'D)
Look, I lived in Jersey 4 years ago.
Okay?
He attempts to walk to the car gain but the Groom puts his
body against his.
LIMO DRIVER (CONT'D)
Don't touch me, sir.
He attempts to walk to the car gain but the Groom puts his
body against his again.
LIMO DRIVER (CONT'D)
You don't want to do this.
GROOM
Give me the phone.
He tries to get around the groom again. The Groom pushes
him. Before we know it they begin to scuffle. The groom
tries to reach for the phone that is around the Drivers waist
in a case. It gets more and more physical. The groom
eventually trips the driver to the ground, causing them to
fall. The Driver is able to turn the Groom around and puts
his hands around him. He strangles him for a few moments.
BRIDE
Get off of him!
The Groom hears his wife. He finally is able to use his
arms to maneuver the Driver and turn him over. As he turns,
the Drivers head hits the concrete. The Groom is on now on
top if him. The Driver tries to swing at him.
LIMO DRIVER
Get the fuck off me!
GROOM
What did you do to my wife?!
The driver continues to try and get up but the Groom's weight
and the drivers head injury is too much. The groom puts his
hands around the Drivers throat.

14.
The driver tries his best to get them off, and from fear of
losing the battle the Groom slams the back of the drivers
head to the ground. The groom has lost it. He begins to
smash the drivers head repeatedly into the concrete.
The bride is crying and screaming for him to stop but the
sound is muffled...barely audible. And then just like
that...it's over.
He lifts his hands off of the drivers head. Sweat and tears
roll off of his face. He looks behind him to see the Bride
against the car, crying, not able to move. He looks down at
the lifeless body. The smashed skull. He looks up, ahead of
him and see's the GAS STATION CLERK, starring at him, with
the phone to his ear. We go back to the groom's face for
one more beat.
