The objective of this lesson is for 1st grade students to identify and determine
value of different coins, i.e. pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters.

1.7 The student will
1. a) identify the number of pennies equivalent to a nickel, a
dime, and a quarter; and
2. b) determine the value of a collection of pennies, nickels, and
dimes whose total value is 100 cents or less.
Please start the lesson by calling students to the carpet in front of the
smart board. Once quiet and seated nicely, ask the students if they
have a piggy bank, and if so, ask them if theyve ever counted their
money. This should spark an organized discussion about money.
Then, lead into the smart board lesson.
Teacher should utilize smart board lesson plan attached in a group
setting. Through the smart board lesson, students will:
