Lesson Summary
(include student role,
issue, problem or
challenge, action taken,
and purpose/beneficiary)

In pairs students will construct an online Mindmap using https://www.mindmeister.com/, which

posted on their group BLOG. Students will construct a Mindmap illustrating varying types of
conflict; religious, ethnic, political, class etc., categorizing them into three scales, local,
regional/national, and global. Providing a brief summary of examples and reasoning for their
placement in the organizer. These artifacts will aid groups in creating their overarching research
project (#1) and help them understand the products presented by their peers.

Driving Question

How does conflict vary in scale and type?

Entry Event

Students will view Cosmic Voyage and respond to the following question. How does scale change
your perception? How can this be applied to geopolitical conflict? Responses will move from pairshare to whole class discussion.
After which students will attempt to construct a list of various types of conflict, starting with
individual lists, groups, then whole class.
