PEOPLE
Malaysia is known for its diversity. Malaysia is one of the places where tourists would
come here few times without getting bored. This country consists of two different lands, the
Peninsular Malaysia and Borneos part where Sabah and Sarawak are located.
There are five places that you must visit during your stay in Malaysia. First, Sarawak
and also known as The Land of Hornbills. Sarawak is the largest state in Malaysia. Being the
largest, Sarawak has many to offer from the food to the variety of culture. Second, Malacca.
Being the history state, Malacca has a lot to give. From the history to art and the wonderful
Baba and Nyonya, and Peranakan to hawker style food. Malacca is best seen with foot or by
the beautiful colourful trishaw. Third, Penang or Pearl of The Orient. Discovered by Francis
Light and the trade meet there. Penang is also our of the history state. The murals on the
building being one of the attractions for tourists. Once nominated by Lonely Planet as top
destination for its food. Next is Johor. Johor is one of the newest players in tourism.
Legoland and Hello Kitty Town are one of the international attractions. Children would never
miss a chance to go here. Johor have a lot to offer from a shopping heaven to the calmness
and the breeze of the sea in Desaru. Last but not least, Kuala Lumpur. Kuala Lumpur is the
main gate to Malaysia. It also the centre of attractions before tourists goes to another state.
We can shop all kind of international brands such as Armani, Dior or Gucci as they have
their outlet here. A stay in Kuala Lumpur will be incomplete without enjoying the nightlife
here. There are dozens of restaurants, cafes and bars as an option.
Now, when we talk about people; we knew that Sarawak has a lot of different ethnics.
However, I only focus on the major four ethnics that really made up the population. The
Malays made up to 21% of the population. They mainly live along the riverbanks in a
kampong or the Malay village. They are well-known for their crafts such as the keringkam
the cloth that been sew with gold or silver thread. Next, the Ibans. The Ibans made most of
the population in Sarawak. They are formidably known as a head hunters, once. In the
history, the Ibans are also known as pirates and fishermen which made they earn the name
Sea Dayaks. They are renowned for the brass and silver crafting, wooden carvings, tattoos
and also the maker of tuak. Then, the Orang Ulu. They are the people who live upriver. The
Orang Ulu was known for the artistic as they live in tall longhouses decorated with murals
and carvings. They are also well known for their intricate beadwork and detailed tattoos.
They also have their own distinct and unique music from sape. Lastly, the Bidayuh. The
Bidayuhs got their name as the Land Dayaks. They are well known for the hospitality and

are reputed to be the best maker of tuak. They speak a number of different but related
dialects.
To conclude, throughout this whole assignment; I can get lots of new information
which I never knew, I knew before. This makes me get to know my motherland much better. I
also know that Malaysia are full of colours and we, Malaysian, are special just the way we
are.
