BaltimoreFoods Inc. Approves Purchase of Pacific Tuna & More
Baltimore, Maryland- BaltimoreFoods Inc.s board of directors recently approved the purchase of Pacific Tuna & More. BaltimoreFoods will offer the San Diego based company 450 million dollars. The offer will be presented sometime next week. By purchasing Pacific Tuna & More it will allow the company to expand to the West Coast. Pacific Tuna & More is BaltimoreFoods top competitor. BaltimoreFoods currently employees 2,500 workers divided out between four processing plants. Pacific Tuna & More has two processing plants and employees over 800 workers including full-time, part-time and temporary workers. Both companies sell different types of frozen and prepackaged seafood to corporateowned restaurants. Kristy Swope, BaltimoreFoods CEO, said, It will allow us to be even more competitive in the frozen seafood marketplace. We anticipate rapid expansion of the company through new product lines. I would expect that we could hire as many as 500 new west coast production line workers as this process goes forward. BaltimoreFoods is the United State's second largest wholesale processor of frozen seafood. It ships more than 20 million pounds of shrimp, clams, and tuna. BaltimoreFoods provides frozen seafood to large-volume restaurants Red Lobster and Kings Seafood. ###
