Sample Answer
Based on the short story One is One and All Alone written by Nicholas Fisk, a
character I like the best is the VoicePrinter (VP).
The first reason why I like the VP the best is because the VP was the best
friend Trish had. It was her companion, teacher and playmate. It remained loyal to
Trish throughout the story and unlike Clo, the clone, it did not turn against Trish or
harm her in any way. In fact, it tried to help and comfort Trish by telling her that she
would have human friends on Trion.
Furthermore, the VP also accepted Trish for who she was and did not find her
habits irritating. It was unfortunate that Trish did not appreciate the VPs good
qualities and cloned herself to get a friend. This resulted in Trishs own death.
In a nutshell, I think the VP is the best character in the short story. It had
helped Trish a lot in many ways. If not because of the VP, Trish would not even know
the word clone.
