Intention:

We are learning about a form of poetry called Haiku and the rules we
need to follow to be able to produce this form of poetry.

Success
Criteria:

I know I am successful when I can follow the rules for Haiku and create
my own Haiku.

Warm Up:
Go outside and use the senses to get ideas from the
environment. Focus on sounds, touch, sensations, scents etc.

Mini Lesson:

Demonstrate what a Haiku is and the rules for the poem. Model
writing a Haiku on the board

Task:

Get the students to write their own Haikus, focusing on nature


as a theme, or the solar system.
