City College will make changes to its student work-study program after a 5% federal budget cut in work-study funding. To accommodate all current work-study students, City College will reduce all student workers' hours by 5% instead of cutting some students from the program. The Director of City College said they will work with multiple departments to ensure the funding cut does not affect students' learning or work opportunities.

City College Alters Student Work-Study Program
CHICAGO, Il. The City College administration will make changes to its work-study program after the federal government announced a 5% budget cut in funding for the colleges work-study. In order to accommodate all students, City College has decided to keep all students currently enrolled but reduce all students workers hours by 5%, rather than cutting certain students from the work-study program. All other colleges and universities will face the same budget cut. Barbara Gonzalez, Director of City College, says, It is unfortunate that the government has announced this cut in funding, but we will be working with multiple departments to ensure that this cut will not affect students learning and work opportunities. City College is planning to make changes in their work-study program to ensure that no student is left behind or affected by this federal change in funding. City College is an urban two-year institution with approximately 15,000 students, and approximately 3,000 of those students work for the college part time and are currently receiving federal support.
