Notes from around the Parishes, August 2016

for Great Massingham, Little Massingham & Harpley

The Screwtape Letters Study Group:

Next meeting 7pm on Thursday August 4th
at 2, Old Post Office Court, Harpley,
when we will be discussing Letters 16 & 17.
After the initial decision to study the letters in batches of three, the group found
there was so much to talk about in each letter that it was decided to switch to two
at a time. Visitors or new members are very welcome to join the group.
As each letter is self-contained you do not need to have studied the earlier letters
to be able to participate and enjoy the discussions.
The full text is also available on-line, see http://www.truechristianity

The Norfolk Churches Trust Bike Ride and Walk

Saturday, 10th September 9am to 5pm
Bike, walk, ride (a horse) or even drive(!) around Norfolk Churches to raise
money for the Church of your choice and for the Norfolk Churches Trust;
sponsorship money raised is divided equally between the two. Church recorders can also
be sponsored for the time they spend or the number of visitors during their time on duty.
Many churches are not manned but cyclists often appreciate a welcome and a chance to
chat over some refreshments, so being a recorder is a valuable contribution.
Contact your Churchwarden if you wish to help.

Bat Night @ St Lawrences

It was a lovely balmy night in July with about 100 people
in church enjoying the informative talk and a pleasant
social occasion. Many locals from the villages and the
wider Benefice came to support us but there were also
many from further afield Fakenham, Rudham,
Kings Lynn, and elsewhere
Donations on the night totalled 534.
As most of the food was donated, expenses were kept to a
minimum and the evening raised a fantastic 477.
Thank you to everyone who supported the event in any
way, and congratulations to the organising and catering team for a wonderful evening.
