Coldest Place Warm People (International Student Festival in

Trondheim)
The first week of February 2015 I went to one of the largest student festival in the
world, ISFiT. International Student Festival in Trondheim (ISFiT) under ISFiT
Foundation has been held the festival since 1990 for every two years with different
topic related to political and social issues. This year, ISFiT raised the issue of
corruption and as well as the main focus for the global infection campaign. Inviting
students from every corner of the world, this year ISFiT received 5300 applicants from
160 countries and only 450 students has chosen to participate in the festival. Coming
from various background study, ISFiT accommodate us with 17 workshops themes,
they are; call for bid, capital flow, case workshop, change, cultural differences,
development, education, entrepreneurship, equality, governance, health, nature,
public health, public art, revue, shades of gray, the picture and media.Through those
themes, we were dividing into 17 group-work to explore and dig deeper the grassroots
of corruption and discuss the possible solution youth can do to combat corruption.
I was one of two students from Indonesia in Education workshop and one of three
from Southeast Asia. Generally, we have a half-day workshop schedule with group
from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and continue to have plenary session at night around 8 p.m. to
10 p.m. with various impactful-related-activist.

At the end of our discussion session, we were working on a small group to formulate
draft resolution to be sent at the ISFiT Parliament. I shared about what Indonesia has
done to fight against corruption through education, and one point from my groups
resolution has been chosen till the second vote to be sent for UN Conference. For
around 10 days activities in Trondheim, it was an honor for me to be able meeting
numerous dedicated young people and various impactful person like Dalai Lama. As

the most important point I tried to highlight is that, now I can tell the world that I
have a great family in ISFiT, that coldest place has such a warm people.
First day
I flew from Indonesia to Amsterdam for around 21 hours and continue my flight to
Trondheim in 1 hour 15 minutes. At the waiting space of transit (Amsterdam), I some
of ISFiTers, firstly were Agnes and Jonathan, and then we just realized that most of
the passenger were ISFiTers. We landed in Trondheim with -3 Celsius degree outside
and quiet thick snow on the ground, it was fantastic having my first-winterexperience.
