GradingPoliciesandAssignments
Homework(30%ofoverallgrade):
Studentswillhavedailyassignmentsandareexpectedtoshowtheirwork.The
workneedstobeshownsotheteachercanreproducetheresultsstepbystep.1point
willbeawardedforeachcorrectworkandanswer.pointwillbeawardedforagood
effortonaproblembutamistakemadeinthework.0pointsawardedfornoattemptof
theproblemorananswergivenwithnoworkorexplanation.Homeworkisassigned
dailyandistobeturnedinthefollowingday.Ifhomeworkislate,10%ofthepointswill
bedeductedfromthefinalscoreand1%perdayafterthat.Allassignmentsaretobe
completedandworkshownorexplanationsgiven.
Quizzes/Tests(70%ofoverallgrade):
Quizzeswillbeannouncedbutaretobeexpectedhalfwaythroughthechapter
withpointsawardedasinassignments.Thequizzesusuallyhave10questions.For
missed/retakequizzesandteststheymaybetakenbeforeschoolorduringlunch.The
studentmustmakearrangementswiththeteacher.Theretakeofaquizmustbedone
beforethechaptertestisgivenandaretakeofatestmustbedonebeforethenexttestis
given.Onlyoneretakeisallowedperquizandtest.Itisrecommendedbeforearetake
thatthestudenthaveastudysessionwiththeteacherorprovetotheteacherthatthe
studentisbetterpreparedtotaketheretake.
AttendancePolicy
Studentsareexpectedtoattendeveryclassandbepreparedtoparticipatefullyinallclass
work.Participationwouldincludebutnotlimitedtohavinghomeworkcompleted,
askingandansweringquestions,doingproblemsinclass,listening,etc.Ifastudentis
absent,thepersonwillmisstheopportunitytolearnthedailymaterial.Ifyouhave
questionsaboutmissedworkIamavailableafterschoolorattheCedarRapidssite
beforeschool.Cometalktomeandwecansetupatimetomeet.
FoodandDrink
Themathroomhasnewercarpetsopleasenofoodintheroom.Also,onlywaterina
closedbottleisneeded.
CellPhones
Cellphonesarenottobeusedduringclassunlessinstructedtobytheteacher.Theyare
tobeleftinyourbookbag(outofsightoutofmind).Iftheteacherdeemsitisnecessary
forastudenttousethecellphoneduringclass,shewillgivepermission.Thiswouldbea
veryrareoccasion.Perhapsoneinstancewouldbetoletastudent,whoisabsent,know
whatwedidinclass.

Payattentioninclass,participateandtakenotes.
Keeptheschoolpropertyi.e.books,desks,floor,wallsetc.cleanandfreeofmarks.
Doyourownhomeworkwhenassignedandturninwhenitisdue.
Followallrulesandregulationsinthestudenthandbook.
Beontimeandpreparedforclass.
Beinyourseatwhenthebellringsandstaythere.
Keephandsawayfromthewindowarea,teachersdesk,suppliesetc.
Bringneededsupplies:textbook,notebook,calculator,pencils,andlooseleafpaper.
Sharpenpencilsbeforeclassorduringstudytime.
Ifyoubreakarule,awarningwillbegiven.Ifyoucontinuetobreaktherule/s,thena
detentionwillbeservedduringlunchorafterschoolforagivenamountoftime.The
morerulesyoubreakthelongerthedetentionwillbe.Ifyouforgettocomeinafter
school,thenyouneedtocomeinbeforeschoolthenextday.Otherwise,youwillservea
doubletimedetentionthefollowingdayafterschool.
