Rising temperatures and high humidity will bring


more of the same today weather that is uncomfortably hot and potentially dangerous, according to forecasters.
A heat advisory is in effect for the entire state of
New Jersey, according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly. Western parts of the state, including Mercer, Camden, Gloucester and part of Burlington counties where itll be even hotter are
under an excessive heat warning.

Temperatures in Monmouth and Ocean counties


are expected to be in the low- to mid-90s through the
weekend, but heat indexes (or how hot it feels) are
expected to hit 115 today and 105 to 110 degrees Sunday, according to forecasts.

JACKSON - Despite a series of nightmarish accidents at theme park and amusement rides elsewhere,
thrill seekers in New Jersey should not be alarmed,
an expert said.
While other states are loosely regulated, New
Jersey oversees a theme park ride from before a single log flume or piece of roller coaster track enters
the state, said Ken Martin, a Virginia-based amusement ride safety analyst and consultant.
The state Department of Community Affairs must
approve any ride before materials are even shipped
to New Jersey. And during construction, inspectors
ensure its built to the exact specifications in the manufacturers ride manual. Theres no room for improvising or last-minute changes, he said.

Around 20 food trucks will pack the seaport in Tuckerton this


weekend serving up everything from Belgian waffles to fried
cheese curds. There also will be live music today by Nectar &
Ambrosia, vendors, family activities, boat rides, decoy carving,
boat building, a craft beer garden, wine tasting and more. The
two-day festival kicks off today from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. at
Tuckerton Seaport.
