Dear 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade Parents,
We will soon begin studying the recorder during music class. Your student will not
only learn to play the recorder but will also learn many important music theory
concepts involved in reading music.
All 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students need to have a recorder for music class. As a
convenience, we will place an order for Yamaha colored translucent recorders (Pink,
Blue or Green) and Recorder Express, the recorder method book we will be using. If
you would like to order a recorder and/or book for your child, please return the
order form below with cash or check (made out to Las Lomas Elementary School) by
Friday, September 9th. We will provide students with a recorder book for use in class.
This is the same recorder and book that we used last year. If students already have a recorder/book, please
disregard this order form.
Students will be allowed to carry their recorders home to practice; however, it will be their responsibility to
bring their recorder back to school for each music class. I suggest that students keep their recorder in their
backpack (like a library book), so they have it whether they are at home or school. A portion of your
students music grade will be Recorder Participation.
