This weekly newsletter from a third grade teacher provides updates on the class's curriculum. It states that this week, students worked on multiplication, division, and variables in math. In writing, students drafted entries in their journals. It also outlines upcoming math, vocabulary, and spelling focuses. The teacher notes she will be absent this Monday and Tuesday and assigns an upcoming book report. The newsletter closes with reminders of upcoming events and incentives to improve classroom behavior.

grade crew! We continued working on multiplication and using our facts to help us understand division. We also introduced variables this week and understanding how to better read story problems. During two of our math lessons we spent time on the computers using FrontRow, a website that allows math practice in areas specific to your student s current abilities. This program can be accessed at home on www.frontrowed.com (class code: tolbek) and helps students progress in learning their operations. Our writing focus this week was learning the steps of the writing process. Each student has been working hard in drafting, revising, and editing an entry in their writer s journals and we will be publishing those this coming week! We also worked in reading on moving from describing a character to using what we know about a character to make a self comparison. Social Studies continued with a discussion on rights and responsibilities in a community and in our own classroom, and we also learned more about our nation s flag.
Math: Continuing with multiplication and division.
Math facts this week: 9s, be sure to practice these at home with the rest of the flashcards! We will be doing timed math facts quizzes Wednesday and Friday this week. Literacy: New vocabulary- After communicating with a few parents this week, I will be adding the weekly vocabulary to the class website so you can study together at home in addition to the practice we get at school. Thank you for those of you who provided the feedback on this matter! Spelling: New spelling words coming home in the Homework Packet.
