This study analyzed the differences in nutritional status between toddlers fostered solely by their biological parents and those not fostered by parents in Dusun Ginang village, Bangsereh sub-district, Pamekasan district, Madura. Data was collected through interviews with 54 parents who had toddlers in May 2015 and toddlers' nutritional status was assessed using Z-scores. The results showed that the majority (25.9%) of toddlers not fostered by biological parents had low nutritional status, while the majority (48.1%) of toddlers fostered by biological parents had normal nutritional status. A chi-square test found a significant relationship (p = 0.001) between parental presence and toddlers

Parents are an important factor in meeting the daily nutrition. There is a difference between toddlers fostered solely by parents with toddlers who are not fostered by their parents. The purpose of this study was to analyze differences in nutritional status of toddlers fostered solely by parents with toddlers who are not fostered by their parents in Bangsereh, Batu Mar-Mar, Pamekasan, Madura. This study used cross sectional analytic design. The population in this study are all parents who have todlers in May 2015 Bangsereh, Batu Mar-Mar, Pamekasan, Madura as many as 54 respondents. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. In this study, the independent variable was the presence of the parents and the dependent variable is the nutritional status of children. The technique of collecting data using interviews and Z-score table and then analyzed with chi-square test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed the nutritional status of todlers who are not fostered by biological parents majority suffer low nutritional status, ie 14 children (25.9%) and that in the majority fostered by biological parent have normal nutritional status, ie 26 children (48.1%). Results of analysis of data processed using the chi-square test with p = 0,001 <a 0.05 indicates that there is a relationship between the presence of the parents with the nutritional status of todlers. It is expected for older parents in the village to be more active and spend enough time for their todlers to prevent malnutrition or poor nutrition.
