The argument stated by the author, that Prunty Country should also

implement the same policy of increasing lane widths, resurfacing rough

highways, and improving visibility at dangerous intersections is flawed as the
author has taken many unsubstantiated assumptions and has also not
provided complete information.

First of all, the author has assumed that after the policy implementation all
the citizens will start following traffic rules and will always remain under
speed limit. The author can not be sure that there will be no reckless driving
in future. It may also happen that by seeing wider roads and smooth new
surfaces more drivers start over speeding and lead to further increase in
number of accidents.

Moreover, the author has assumed that the number of acidents in Butler
Country has decreased due implementation of the policy. It might also
happen that oil prices might be high in Bulter Country and it might be
cheaper for the public to travel through public transport or maybe all the
traffic rules are implemented in a much stringent way and heavy penalities
are charged on overspeeding and hence people drive slowly under speed
limits and accidents have decreased.

Furthermore, the author has assumed that by improving visibility at

dangerous intersections, the number of accidents will reduce. There might be
financial issues regarding electricity for street lights on highways and maybe
there might be a shortage of electricity in future and the result might be
power shedding and there can be no assurance that the accidents will
decrease as the visibility could be low at some time of the night.

Last but not the least, the author has assumed that Prunty Country is
financially stable to afford such an expensive plan. Even if the country go
through with the plan and then charge high tolls for the highways, there
might be a possibility that people reduce the use of such highways due to
high tolls and due to this country might even suffer from heavy financial
crisis.

To conclude, the above assumptions should be considered by the author and

the author should provide more information on the same to further

strengthen his claim.
