DEACONATE ORDINATION
FOR DR. MARK GRUNWALD
Please plan on joining us in La Crosse for the
deaconate ordination for Dr. Mark on October 29,
2016 at St Joseph the Workman Cathedral in La
Crosse. These long years of study and prayer are coming
to a close, and a new stage is being opened for Dr.
Mark. The study program for the deaconate is a five-year
program, and takes much dedication and commitment
during those years. At least once a month during the
winter months, and sometimes more, the candidates go
to the St. Anthony retreat center in Marathon for a
weekend of formation. In between there are pastoral
works, research papers and theological reflections to
write. Overall, a very demanding program, but one that
pays off as the deacon enters into a new role of service
to the people of God in their home community.
Dr. Mark, thank you for accepting the call to
serve our community as a deacon, and for the time you
have devoted to your preparations.
We would like to offer a bus for the ordination.
If you would be interested in joining us in La Crosse on
October 29th, please contact the rectory and we will
make a list on a first come basis. Right now we do not
have pricing for the trip, but will do so in the coming
week or so. The trip will include attendance at the ordination of Dr. Mark and his classmates and a reception
to follow.
CEMETARY FENCING
If you have been past Calvary Cemetery, you
will have noticed that there is work being done on the
perimeter fence. This is the first project that the newly
formed cemetery committee has taken on. We will be
installing a decorative fence 60 feet on either side of the
main gate, with a new vinyl coated chain link fence to
the corners. In addition, the north entrance will be widened to make it easier to get in and out of the cemetery,
especially for the larger trucks bringing down the vaults.
We are planning on re-doing the main gate area as well.
We would like to thank the committee members; Joe Atkins, Jim Welsch, Tom Stram and Patty
Schauf-Yager for their assistance and guidance in getting
this project going. There are other projects that are under consideration at this time, and we will get information out as discussions proceed.
HALL RENTAL
The new Fellowship Hall is available for rent
to all active parishioners. If you have an event coming
up and would like more information on our hall,
please contact the rectory for more information.
PRAYER CORNER
RCIA
We are getting close to our fall RCIA (Rite of
Christian Initiation for Adults) classes. If you are interested in these classes, or might know of anyone
interested in attending these classes, please contact
the rectory. The classes will begin in September, with
time, location of classes and dates TBD. These classes
are great for converts to the faith, for those that might
want to know a bit more about the Catholic faith and
for Catholics desiring a deeper relationship with Jesus
Christ and His Church.
