    its2.1millionpensioners,whiletheP1,000increasewasproposedby
    lawmakers.
    PresidentAquinovetoedHouseBillNo.5842lastJanuary12saying
    theP2,000increasewouldcompromisethelifeoftheSSSwhichhas31
    millionmembers.
    WorkersunderKilusangMayoUnosaidthePresidentandhisallies
    areinsultingthepensioners.
    InaprotestactioninfrontoftheSSSofficeinBajada,here,thelabor
    groupsaidthegovernmentisshortchangingtheSSSpensioners.
    Thegovernmentislyingthroughitsteeth.Theproponentsofthisbill
    hadcarefullystudiedthefinancialcapacityoftheSSS,includingall
    possiblesourcing,suchastheimprovingthecollectionsandpenalizing
    delinquentemployerswhodonotremitSSSpremiumcontributionsof
    workermembers,saidCarloOlalo,spokespersonofKMUSouthern

    workermembers,saidCarloOlalo,spokespersonofKMUSouthern
    Mindanao.
    Ifthepresidentisworriedaboutinsolvency,itmustinsteaddeprive
    SSSexecutivesoffatbonusesandreturntheP71millionunaudited
    fundtotheSSSmembersthanvetothebill.Improvecollectionsand
    createmechanismstopenalizedelinquentemployersinordertoboost
    SSSfunds,hesaid.
    ThelaborgroupalsocondemnedthegovernmentsandtheSSS
    executivesdefenseofthevetobypittingthefutureofthecurrent
    membersandthepensioners.
    ThegroupsaidthatthemainhindrancetothefutureoftheSSSis
    inefficiency,citingSSSP325billionuncollectedrevenue.Olalosaid
    thatifSSScanonlyimproveitspresent38percentcollectionrate,the
    stabilityoftheSSSfundwillalsobemuchimproved.
    Meanwhile,ArielCasilao,firstnomineeofAnakpawisPartylist,said
    thepubliccanstillholdmassactionstolobbyfortheoverrideofthe
    veto.
    CasilaosaidrepresentativesfromtheMakabayanblocarenow
    lobbyingsupportinCongresstomakethevetoreversalpossible.
    PNoyandhisalliesareattemptingtocreatethebogeyofinsolvencyto
    persuadebeliefinthemoralityoftheveto,butwearenotconvinced.
    WearealsofuturepensionersandthisP2,000pensionhikeis
    immediatereliefforusinthefuture,hesaid.
    PNoyandtherulingLiberalPartycliqueisevidentlyantiworkerand
    antipoor,Casilaoadded.
    WearecallingonallpensionersandcurrentSSScontributorsto
    stronglyuniteinordertoreversetheveto.Letusbeclearwithour
    demandfortheP2,000SSSpensionhikeandcontinueprotestinguntil
    thebillisfinallypassedintolaw,hesaid.
    AvetooverrideshouldhaveatwothirdsvoteofboththeSenateand
    theHouseofRepresentative.
    ButCommunicationsSecretaryHerminioColomasaidlawmakers
    shouldconsiderthestabilityoftheSocialSecuritySystem(SSS)
    fund.
    Healsosaidthepensionerscouldgetadditionalsupportfromother
    governmentagencies.
