Dear TUSD teachers, despite recent meager pay raises, you are being

underpaid unnecessarily. There is nearly $20 million available in voterapproved Prop 301 funds that is JUST FOR YOU!

TUSD gets about $18 million in Prop 301 monies each year. 20% is for base pay, 40% is for performance pay
and 40% is for other related expenses.
Ever since 2013, when HT Sanchez took over, the amount paid out in performance pay was cut by more than
half, which has allowed the Prop 301 reserves to skyrocket.

Prop 301 Ending Balance (unspent money meant for teachers)

Amount TUSD Spent on Performance Pay Salaries
$20,000,000

As you can see, there is nearly $20 million in unspent

Prop 301 monies with over $14 million coming just
from unspent performance pay. This is NOT normal
across the state (see below).
This is 107% of what TUSD gets each year in Prop
301 funds, which is the equivalent of the state cutting
the funds for one year; there would be an uproar in
that case, so why not now?

Note: The 2016 numbers are projections given by CFO Karla Soto at the July 12th, 2016 board meeting

At the August 9th, 2016 board meeting (Item 10), the TUSD board majority voted to raise the bar required to
receive performance pay, making it even harder for the teacher to get paid more.
The Highly Effective bar was raised from 74 to 79, Effective from 56 to 61, Developing 40 to 47, and anything 46 or less is Ineffective
