    CourseOverview:WelcometoIntroductiontoTheatre.IamsoexcitedthatPilotGroveis
    offeringthisparticularcourse,becausetheaterhasalwaysbeenaninteresttome.Itisimportant
    tonotethatthiscourseisnotadramacourse,andthuswewillnotbeactingasyoumightina
    dramaclass.Thiscourseaimstodevelopanappreciationfortheateracrossawidespanoftime
    andcultures.Overthecourseoftheyearwewillwatch,read,andprovideanalysisforvarious
    plays.Whilethiscourseismostlyparticipatory,therewillbewritingassignments/projectsthat
    arerequiredaspointsofanalysisfortheplaysthatwewatchinclass,inadditionclassdiscussion
    willbeacentralfocus.Ilookforwardtotheyearahead,andhopethatyougainanappreciation
    forthetheatrethatcarrieswithyoulongafteryouleavehighschool.

    ClassroomRulesandExpectations:
    1. Beontime.
    Youmustbeinyourseatwhenthebellrings,oryouwillbecountedtardy.
    2. Cometoeachclassprepared.
    Comingtoclasspreparedmeansmakingsurethatyouhavereadanymaterialthatwas
    assignedpreviouslysothatyouwillbeabletoparticipateindiscussion.
    3. Berespectfultoeveryoneintheclassroom.
    WhileIfullysupportfreedomofspeech,justunderstandthattheclassroomisnotthe
    appropriateoutletforinappropriatelanguagethatisdisrespectfultoanyone.
    Iknowyouhavehearditathousandtimes,buttreatothersasyouwouldliketobe
    treated.
    Keepinmindthateveryonehasdifferingopinionsandtheymayhaveideasorbeliefs
    thatyoudisagreewith.Keepanopenmindandrespecteveryonesrighttotheirown
    opinion.
    4. Ipromisetocometoeachclassexcitedtoteachandwithapositiveattitude.Itisthen
    yourresponsibilitytomakesureIstayinapositiveattitudethroughclassparticipation,
    completionofwork,andrespectfulbehavior.
    5. Youareallowedtoleavetheclassroom2timeseachquarterwithoutreceivingatardy,
    anytimeyouleavetheclassroomafteryour2freebieswillresultinatardy.


    LateWorkPolicy:
    Allworkmustbeturnedinonthedaythatitisduetoreceivefullcredit.Anyworkthatislate
    willreceivea20%deductioninpoints.Alllateworkmustbesubmittednolaterthan2weeks
    priortotheendofthequarter.

    MakeupWork:
    1. Studentswillhave1dayforeverydaytheyareabsenttomakeuptheirwork.
    2. Allassignmentsthatyouhavemissedwillbeinthecrate.Pleasecheckthecratebefore
    youaskmewhatyoumissed.
    3. Youcanaskforinstructionsforyourmakeupworkbeforeclass,afterclass,before
    school,afterschool,orduringmyplanperiod.Iwillnotgiveinstructiontoassignments
    missedduringtheregularclasstime.

    MandatoryStudyHall:
    Studentsthatcompletelessthan50%ofthehomeworkassignedwillbegivenaMandatory
    StudyHallthatmustbeservedthatday.Allworkisduebythebeginningofthehourtoavoida
    MandatoryStudyHall.
