The Suppressed: Expressed

A compilation of thoughts that cannot find its place among the shallow world
Dear reader,
If you think of me as a conceited fool who believes the world cannot live up to my
own standards, you are half wrong and half right. You are wrong when you say that
the world cannot live up to my standards, but right when you say that I am a
conceited fool. Although if you think about it, being a conceited fool is actually not a
bad thing, for those who had the boldness to stand up for things were the people
who, at some point in their life, were considered as fools. My conceitedness is
simply a plus point.
The Reality of Humility
Most of the world believes in the importance of ones humility a quality wherein
one still chooses to walk barefooted along muddy soil despite being able to tread
within stellar heights. It is humility, they say, which gives so much weight to a
persons greatness. In common forms of fiction for example, the hero is usually
displayed with utter humility which makes him loved by everyone while the villain,
on the other hand, is depicted as an arrogant, ruthless person.
Aside from being popular among people though, what do people actually gain from
keeping ones feet flat on the ground?
The answer is: a lot. This is because humans are designed to depend on each other.
It is indeed ironic how the complexity of our being compels us to depend more on
each other, but that is the inescapable reality presented to us. We live in a trade
system we do things for compensation of whatever it is that we do. One of the
compensations we commonly require is the one that keeps our ego intact, or boost
in some cases the humility of another.
Why do we require humility from a person?
The inequalities between ones appearance, social status, race and other qualities
with another person develops a sense of inferiority which we hide behind this mask
called ego. This therefore makes the exhibition of humility the indirect act of
protecting the ego of another or layering the mask for it to become thicker. It is then
essential for us to be indirectly affected by ones humility as it covers a hidden
inferiority within us.
