AMS Morning Announcements

August 19th, 2016


Congratulations to Courtney Coplan, Chase Lowell, and Sophia
Martinez for winning the Walk to School Wednesday raffle! Our
next Walk to School Wednesday is August 31! Well see you
there, thanks for going Green! Attention all TAs for this school
year!
Mandatory TA training next week during lunch in the theater!
--If you are a TA and your last name is A-M you will come to the
training on Tuesday August 23rd and if your last name is N-Z you
will come on Wednesday the 24th.
--Please report immediately to the theater at the beginning of
lunch on your assigned day. We will be providing Pizza for your
lunch during training, but please bring a drink! :)
Interested in the AIM Production team??
We had close to 60 of your very talented classmates audition for
our fall musical, Willy Wonka Jr. If you would like to be involved
behind the scenes as part of our production team, please pick up
an application from Mr. Bullington or Mrs. Kennealy.
Applications are also available on Mrs. Kennealys web page.
Production team applications are due no later than 2:50 pm on
Monday, August 22nd. Production Team will be announced on
the Actors in Motion website by 9:00 pm on Wednesday
evening, August 23rd. We will meet every Thursday during lunch
(A & B) in Room 53. (8/22)
AIM's Willy Wonka Jr. Cast List Update
Did you audition for our Fall musical, Willy Wonka Jr.? We have
so much talent here at Adams - casting has not been easy. Dont
forget to check the Actors in Motion webpage on Sunday night
after 9:00 pm for the cast list. Everyone who auditioned is being
cast in the musical, so please if you auditioned, please plan on
attending the mandatory meeting on Monday, August 22 from
3:00 5:30 pm in the theater. This meeting is for the actors only.

CJSF Meeting for Interested 8th Graders
There will be a CJSF meeting for interested 8th graders during Blunch on Tuesday, August 23 in Room 53. We will be discussing
community service and fundraising. See you there!
Barnes and Noble Book Fair
Support the AMS Library on Thursday, August 25 after school!
Our awesome Creative Dramatics Choir will be singing at 5:00
PM. The Iced Drink Competition will be in the stores Starbucks
Caf. Last year we came in at #4Lets be #1 this year! Together
we can win over the other district sites! Vouchers will be
distributed through your Advisory class that must come to the
store. Find Mrs. Pospisil at the fair to receive a Front of the
Lunch Line Pass! (8/25)
8th Graders: California Junior Scholarship Federation
8th Graders: California Junior Scholarship Federation (CJSF)
application period is open now. Qualification for membership is

available based on grades earned in the 7th and 8th grade. To


obtain honor membership, you must apply and qualify for
membership in 3 out of the 4 semesters of your seventh and
eighth grade years. If you earned at least two As and two Bs in
your core classes(Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and
Science) during both 3rd and 4th quarter last year (Spring
semester) and you are in 8th grade, you should join. Please pick
up a CJSF membership application from the Student Office or
you can print the form from Mrs. Kennealys webpage. All
applications must include a copy of your report card and are due
to Mrs. Kennealy or the Student Office no later than 2:50 pm on
Friday, August 26. (8/26)
Need to visit the library at lunch?
Starting Monday, there are new procedures to visit the library
during lunchtime. Students can come to the library in the
mornings to sign out for a numbered same-day use Library
Lunchtime Pass to give more students access during lunch for
these quiet time needs:
Check out books
Read
Return books Do research
Work on homework
Use the computer for homework

GSA Meeting Coming Soon!
GSA, Gay Straight Alliance, is having an informational meeting
during lunch A and B in Room 4 next Friday, August 26th. Come
join us J Students and teachers are welcome! (8/26)
Washington D.C. & New York City June 2017
There will be an informational meeting for the June 2017
Washington D.C. and New York City trip. Please come to room 43
on Tuesday, August 30th at 2:45 if you are an 8th grader that is
new to our school or if you are a current 8th grader and have not
yet signed up for this trip. (Those already enrolled need not
attend) Wed love to tell you more about this travel opportunity
and answer any questions you might have! (8/29)
