Can Your Genes Predict When You Will Die?

Summary (150 to 300 words)
In the past Greeks believed the amount of time a person spent on earth was
determinate at birth, however nowadays recent researches have been discovered that
this may be true. A Telomere is a stretch of DNA that protects the chromosome. Its a
fact that telomeres are quite long when we born and shorten every time a cell divides
then when very little Telomere remains cell becomes inactive or die.
But cell divides isnt the only reason for telomeres to be shorter, also its proved that
experiences cant affect them. So children who suffer of physical abuse, bullying or
witness familiar violence are exposed to a fastest erosion of their telomeres. Also
stress is related to causes of telomeres to be short, as some studies have been
demonstrated, while Telomere is shorter increases the risk of age-related ailments.
However its demonstrated too that positive activities seems to slow down the erosion
of telomeres. It isnt clear yet how positive or negative behavior or activities can affect
telomeres theyre unable to say whether shorter telomeres cause aging or merely accompany
it. But its clear the fates arent entirely in charge.

With this research we know that our life isnt only in hands of fate. We can, to
some extent, choose how long are we going to live. Its on us if we want to live
healthy and live more or have a short life. Life is full of puzzles that men cant
solve yet.
