Sound Planning Considerations:

1. Distribution- Refers to the placement, location and arrangement of each
room unit in relation with each other as to functions and coordination.
2. Circulation- the flow of the finished structure, roads, etc. must not have a
constraint circulation and system.
3. Light and ventilation Less fortunate cannot afford an artificial lightning
and ventilation. (Sec.808 of the National Building Code) recommends to have
a window that will let the air circulate inside the four cornered room.
4. Sizes, areas and shape (Sec. 806 of the National Building Code on Size
and Dimensions of rooms)
a.) Room for human habitations shall be 6 sq. m with least dimension of 2 m.
b.)Kitchen shall be 3 sq. m with least dimension of 1.50 m.
c.) Bath and toilet shall be 1.20 sq. m with a least dimension of 90 cm.

5. Orientation Bedroom should not be facing the afternoon sun. The kitchen,
laundry and bathroom is better oriented west for sunlight kills many types of
bacteria.
6. Zoning Laws- Location of constructed residential, building, etc.
7. Height
(Sec. 807 of the Building Code on Air Space Requirements in determining the
size of the room)
Residential:
Habitable room: 14.00 cu. M of air space per room.
School room: 3 cu. M with 1.00 sq. m of floor area per person.
Office workshop and facilities: 12 cu. M of air space per person.
(805 of the Building Code on Ceiling Heights)
Habitable Rooms with Natural Ventilation shall have a ceiling height not
less than 2.7 m
Habitable Rooms with Artificial Ventilation shall have ceiling heights not
less than 2.4 measured from the floor to the ceiling. For buildings more than
one story high, the minimum ceiling height of the first floor shall be 2.7 m
and 2.4 m for the second floor. The exceeding floors must not have a height
less than 2.1 m.
Mezzanine Floors Shall have a ceiling not less than 1.8 m

8. Electrical and mechanical facilities- an ideal convenience outlet is

installed 30 cm above the floor line, and not more than 1 m away from the
appliances to be served.

9. Location of doors and windows The door installed must be convenient

and its position must be analyzed before the installment.
10. Superstition If superstition belief and midievality is still running inside the
clients bloodline then there is nothing you can do about that as a planner but
to follow what they say.
