Is English Speaking Is Enough?

We people have different kinds of writing.People in the Philippines know how to

speak in English, it is easy for them to speak in English but only the grammar is not
really easy for them, for us students. When it comes to grammar, many people in the
Philippines has mistaken because of lack of knowledge or lack of vocabulary. There
academic writing was mistaken when the time they use known, pronoun, verb, adverb,
adjectives, conjunction, and etc. They usually had a mistake on using it because they
just predict or feel what is the best word to apply on his/her sentence instead of knowing
the right grammar on his/her sentence. It is the result of having a lack of
readership. When people read more, research other words or find some ways to
enhance his/her skill in reading, it me help you to have a good academic writing and it
can make you more academic.According to the Filipino writer in teacher Butch Dalisay
"I'd rather have a thousand readers at home than have 10,000 readers in New York,"
and he actually mean it.ButchDalisay proves that he shouldn't be dismissed as one of
the older members of the local literati, which is still not really sure of believing the
happenings of the surroundings of the cultural production, at the core of which the idea
that the task of writing is not interesting and is just about the craft. It is said also that
making academic writing her in the Philippines is not really good, some people making
this one has not taking it seriously, it is not interesting and not good to read at. And as
the recent anthology of Philippine poetry states that "The Filipino is not a theory, we are
not academic" and discourse while "Necessary must not be propelled by a
presumptuous tone that actually stunts literature's growth" (Joel Toledo and Khavndela
Cruz from Under The Storm,2011) - All very dangerous statements to make at a time
when literature is necessary weapon.
This is why Butch Dalisay's declared about writing in the
Philippines, truthful, honest and self-supporting is the only important and
relevant.Academic writing is not really easy to the people who are not good or
interesting in reading, when do those whi do read will pick up Harry Potter or Twighlight
instead of a local book?Being educated and having skill in writing in english is good for
us.But the Filipinos, especially the student's her in the Philippines is not listening to the
teacher or they do not also care what is the importance of having skill in writing in
English. And as far as Dalisay is concerned, it is also said that "There's no escaping
class, not for any writer, not for any kind of writing, especially in English, especially given
that this means having a very few readers where we come from and it is a trope

encompasses even that which Dalisay considers to be the most important story for
Filipino's of our time: the diaspora. "
That's why academic writing of Filipinos is very low. It's not organize , not really
good in grammar, the words they use is not fit on it's sentence even though they know
how to speak in English. The skill in writing in English is very important , you can used It
at any moment, at any time. But we should accept the fact that the writing skill of the
Filipinos here in the Philippines is not really good in organize in the essay "With
Windows Open," In which " he read the meet-the-author session, Dalisay speak of the
painfully diferring manners of movement for Filipinos, where the distance between one
Filipino to the next is so starkly riddled with issue of class. To Dalisay ,class is the one
struggle that exists for us regardless of where we are in the world:Where Filipinos we
look at each other, acknowledge sameness ,and quickly look away from each other. The
silence carries the weight of class take from the Philippine shores and transposed to
elsewhere in the world. It's a silence that is deafening. That it's one that Dalisay works
with and articulates about the literature and writing we do as Filipinos, can only be worth
celebrating. That it is inaduertently a response to those of us who still think creativity is
beyond theory, is just wonderful ."
