WHERE TO FIND FREE STOCK PHOTOS

For our purposes, the best stock photos are those licensed under Creative Commons Zero,
meaning they do not require attribution, are free for commercial use, and may be altered.
Attribution means you need to statesomewherewho took the photo and/or where you
got it. Giving credit is another way to say attributing.
How to attribute
Sometimes you can attribute by placing a caption on the photo in the code of a news item.
Other times you can go to www.picmonkey.com and use their text tool to type right on the
photo, at the bottom of the pic.
When you download
When you download your free stock photos, please place a copy in the appropriate folder
on the Share drive. For example: S:\IAS\Staff\Social Media\PHOTOS\Stock Photos\From
Pixabay dot com
Searching
Many sites have a built-in search engine, others dont.
Say were looking for pictures of bananas. Search a
specific site from Google.com, type: site:[sitenamehere] bananas. Remove brackets and
substitute the site name, and dont forget to try again for
banana.
If that doesnt work, you can also use Google Images to
look for a visually-similar image.
1) Search images.google.com for the perfect
banana.
2) Download the pic to your desktopyou
will delete it after your search since it is
under copyright.
3) Go back to images.google.com and click
the camera icon in the search barupload
your sample banana. Wait for it to show up
in your search bar.
4) Then, type in your site site:
5) Hopefully the magic happens and you get
similar images.
