INTRODUCTION
Problem and Its Background
HGM (Helen G. Madarang) Boutique located at Roxas Public Market
Rizal,Roxas Isabela. HGM Boutique is a small bargain boutique that specializes in
fashionable items such as clothing, bags and jewelries.
Despite the fact, that the company has been well-known for bargaining
garments, bags and jewelries, as of the moment HGM is using traditional
marketing or advertising strategies due to insufficient and technical knowledge
in todays technology. They have been accepting orders manually between their
clients which utilizes much of their time.
Thankfully, nowadays people live in a time where searching for
information only takes a few seconds. We live in a time where one can contact
anyone virtually any minute anywhere in the world, as long the connection
exists. We live in the time of the internet, where all transactions are made as
quick as a blink of the eye and as easy as pie. One can find virtually anything
that can think of online, and if necessary currencies are traded, receive the
product or service.
Based on the information gathered, the researchers motivated to conduct
a research to find out if it is efficient to establish an e-commerce website with an
online ordering system that can endorse HGM Boutique to a wider range for
more customers.
Online marketing is the process by which companies use the Internet to
market a product or service to consumers. The information provided by a careful
1

market analysis conducted online can also identify popular trends that can assist
a company in creating a strategy that will get better results. When used
properly, online marketing is an effective tool that a company can use to
experience higher revenues.

Statement of the Problem

This research has been conducted to know and to apply the benefits of
having an online website to help the company reach out more about HGM
Boutique. Specifically, this research aims to answer the following questions:
1. How reliable is the ordering system for HGM Boutique?
2. Is the ordering system precise in recording user information?

3. What other possible solutions to attract customer attention to the services

and products of HGM Boutique?

General Objectives
The reason of this website is to provide the customers with highly visible
web pages and recognizable brands at reasonable rates, to maintain profitability
without sacrificing the companys reputation and relationships.
This also deals in ensuring that the companys product and services are
delivered as promised and a commitment to continuous improvement in order to
maintain customer service, quality of our products and self-improvement.

Specific Objectives
Given the list of objectives to resolve the problems encountered by the
user and web developer:
1. To create a reliable Online Marketing System for HGM Boutique;
2. To ensure that the Online Marketing System is always updated and
precise in storing marketing record;
3. To Integrate user friendly notification icons and directions in the
Graphical User Interface designs to facilitate clients ordering system in
easiest and convenient way;

Scope and Limitations

Scope
This research has been conducted to determine if it is efficient to establish
a website with the utilization of an online ordering system as distinguished by
the management and staff of HGM Boutique. The aspects looked into were the
establishment of internet advertising, efficiency to accumulate information of
users, managing orders, automatic calculation of payments and handling
customer transactions. The population size will be limited to the owner, four
employees and five clients. The locale of the study will be conducted in Roxas
Public Market Rizal, Roxas Isabela in the period of November 2014

Delimitation of the Study

The researchers limited this study for HGM Boutique business only. The
study will be conducted using a web-application software but does not
accommodate online payment. The payment transaction is only between the
agreement of the company and consumer by the use of contact information.
The delivery of the product depends on the agreement of the company and
consumer on how the consumer will acquire the ordered product. The temporary
hosting for the website will only be valid for one (1) year.
DEFINITION OF TERMS
Garments - Clothing for men and women by which HGM Boutique bargains.
Marketing Identifying and understanding the clients/customers and giving them
what they want.
Orders A condition or comprehensible agreement of purchasing products to
HGM Boutique.
Website - A set of interconnected webpages, usually including a homepage,
generally located on the same server, and prepared and maintained as a
collection of information by the staff of HGM Boutique.

CHAPTER II
RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDY

Foreign Literature
The extension of technology that integrates the electronic media in the
buying and the selling process is known as the Ecommerce. Elton (2012)
mentioned that the ecommerce website has deflated the dissimilarity of the
world.
Marketing is an important organizational function in today's age. It is the
one path that a firm follows to create and deliver value to its customer and itself.
The internet has created a vast array of opportunities to deliver this value.
According to Brigita Go (2012), running an online business is much better
than opening a store. Selling online is indeed one of the great ways to make
profits online. In fact, it is also a great way to widen your target market and grow
your business fast as well. Carolyn Anderson (2012) stated that "by putting your
business online, you are also widening your reach worldwide". It is important to
check out some online selling tips that may help make selling successful.
As more and more business take the ecommerce journey to charm
customers, it is enhancing more and more necessary to build effective
ecommerce marketing ideas. According to Sunny (2012) the primary reasons for
marketing your ecommerce business online is to remain fasten.

Local Literature

Ian Ross Hollander (2012) stated that there are three online marketing
trends every successful entrepreneur must adopt: communities are critical,
dynamic browsing environments and control what you create.
According to Harris (2012) the online medium offers a big platform to
promote your business as compared to other medium available. Your products
and services will reach to a large number of potential buyers only if you choose
the right marketing medium for your business.
Today online reservation system is even accessible to consumers through
Internet Gateways and it allows the users to book hotel rooms, rent cars as well
as book online airline tickets, which is definitely a more convenient way of
making your travel plans. Andrew mentioned that, online reservation systems
are the future of the self-catering holiday provider as more and more people
request online or as a minimum live availability.

Another idea form Amy Brantly (2012) is that pictures are worth a 1,000
words, so why not take excellent pictures to help sell your items? You need to
find the best lighting source possible, while natural light is wonderful, direct
sunlight can affect the color of the clothing in the image.
Based on the study of Sophie Walton (2012), online bargain hunting has
prepared my time much easier and less chaotic. She garages online for birthday
presents, textbooks, stuff, domiciliary supplies and occasionally even for
7

foodstuffs. However, spending for clothing online has one major problem - females' sizes are not standard. Clothing producers tell females they have
standard sizes but females know this is as false as one size fits all. She have
really sobbed in a dressing area since she had to buy a pair of pants two sizes
larger because they were cut so small. She does not let this halt me from
ordering dress from online retailers because it saves time and money by
shopping online. Though, she has learned a few tricks for shopping online for
outfits that she want to share with us.
Doris Raymond (2008), says, 'NOT EVER leave a piece on shipment deprived
of a previous understanding of what the trade value is and the terms'. Your
receipt with the supply is a deal, so take whatsoever is printed VERY extremely.
We can be accurately giving our pieces to that business naively.
According to Michael Braganza (2007), ecommerce is the latest mantra in
increasing you sales. This is because instead of selling your goods and services
through a local store, you can sell online and gain a greater customer base.
Apart from providing shipping services, you will need an online ecommerce
merchant account to accept credit card payments to make your venture a
success.
A study from ARA Victoria (2007), there are many factors in professional
selling of products 'always give customers more than they expect', 'your success
will depend on how well you can meet the needs of your customer', 'the attitude
you sent out usually the attitude you get back' these are the main topics that
they emphasize in their study.

Idea from Nicole Mann Novick, most fashion- fanatics have no difficulty in
building clothes teeming with valuable parts. But several find it more of a trial to
edit down a collection, whether due to soppiness or an unwillingness to toss
something of worth into the giveaway basket. If you drop into the latter type,
theres worthy news. You can recoup, and possibly even return from, the cost of
your outfits, providing you know the tricks of the resale skill. From loving for your
pieces to distribute them with possible consumers, three of Los Angeles most
respected specialists offer instructions and guidance on how to sell youre 'mildly
worn' fashionable flops.
According to Kartiwi (2006) the use of e-commerce in small mediumsized enterprises (SMEs) has become an important topic in information systems
research. At present, there is a large number of well-documented benefits
derived from e-commerce for small-medium enterprises (SMEs) both in
theoretical and practical literature.
With the development of Internet, e-commerce becomes a common
practice in foreign trade and penetrates into every aspect of international trade.
Xia (2006) stated that e-commerce application in foreign trade enterprise are
analyzed, the potential application that e-commerce is superior to traditional
trade is expounded, active reactions are suggested be taken, the promotive
function of e-commerce application should be exerted by government, the
enhancement of e-commerce competence, the perfection of the service role as
intermediary platform, the study of joint effort of all parties for a promising ecommerce application environment.

According to Paradise Style Group (2006), when we order clothing at the

internet, we can suppose some crinkling related with padding and delivery.
Don't associate the clothing that derives out of a package with the pictures on
websites of a skillfully steamed costume. To get the similar look for your
clothing, we continuously endorse having your clothing skillfully steamed or
pushed after any changes are done, and formerly your occasion.
Local Studies
According to George as Online Marketing, (2010) there are so many benefits
of online advertisement of a product. One is, you have wide coverage makes
your business to reach more audiences. Second is, it is more affordable in online
advertisement than other traditional advertising cost. Third is, easy to track and
measure conversation this makes online advertising more ahead than traditional
method of advertising. (p. 14)

According to Pantiao, Hannahlyn B., (2009) because of their manual system

they have their services slow down. In their current system problems like missing
orders and loss of data possibly occur by the implementation of the online
ordering system anyone that have the authorization to access the information,
they could use them anywhere and anytime.(p. 1)
A study from W.Smith, (2008) social marketing is defined as 'a process for
influencing human behavior on a large scale, using marketing principles for the
purpose of societal benefit rather than commercial profit'.(p. 22, 23).

According to Philippines News Agency, NCC's e-Services Portal Launched,

April 26, (2008), Total Information Management Corp. (TIM), local IT, firm recently
spearheaded the official launch of the Computer Center's Philippine Government
e-Services Portal. (21-22)
Tagged as "eSerbisyo.gov.ph" or "eSerbisyo" in the international Internet
community, the e-Services Portal was built by TIM trough a Php 45-million
contract awarded by NCC last 2 years. This portal is designated to serve as a
one-stop, all-in-one Internet gateway for accessing comprehensive information
and online frontline services of multiple government agencies. "When we first
embarked on this project, we at TIM had the honor of being NCC's chosen
solution." (21-22)
A work from Salunson and Ramon, (2007) Electronic Commerce is
consists primarily of the distributing, buying, selling, marketing and servicing of
products or services over electronic system such as the internet, electronic
devices and other computer networks.(p. 17)

Words from Panlilio and Diana (2005) customers today are diverse as the
clothes themselves. There are some who stick to the trends, some who stick to
11

classic styles and some who would like to be set apart from the rest and hence
come up with styles of their own. Customers are seeking on ways in purchasing

Based on the work of Ernie, Rachel L, (2005), entrepreneurship is
encouraged because it is one of the contributions towards developing an area

CHAPTER III
PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND METHODOLOGY

12

This chapter shows the methods used by the researchers in undertaking the
study during the development of the system. They adopted the waterfall model
prototype.

1. Project identification and Selection

-the researchers selected this Online Marketing system because it is one
of the points of interest now. Everyone uses internet and business make
use of it to lessen the time of the consumers in buying goods around the
market. But before we have decided to establish this system the
researchers made first choice to build an e-library system of a small
school and was rejected due to duplication of systems.
2. Project Initiation and Planning
-the researchers conduct a feasibility study as their prime economic basis
in continuing the study.

Purpose and scope of the system
The proposed application called HGMB POLL enables clients to
give feedback on different items. Clients and the items are able to view
current statistics and opinions which have already been submitted.

19

Functional Requirements
The system supports two types of actors: Client and Manager.
Client should be able to:
- choose items they wanted
- view current statistics and opinions on this item
- rate each item only once
- commit their feedback anonymously
- be notified if new statistics are available
Manager should be able to:
-can choose one of their Available items but can access all items.
-can view currents statistics and clients opinions on a particular item.
4. Logical and Physical Design

HGM Boutique Online Ordering System is a web - based application that
will help the company and employees to become more popular by marketing
their business to the internet world. This document is meant to define the
feature of HGM Boutique, so as to serve as a guide to the developers on one
hand and a software validation document for the perspective client on the other.

1.1. Scope (Software)

We describe what features are in the scope of the software and what are
not in the scope of the software to be developed.

In Scope:

Registration forms for membership of customers in able to take

order to HGM Boutique.

User authentication to secure the login information of both user and

administrator.

Inventory system where the admin can have fully control of the
information stored in the database like members and products
information and able to view orders information.

22

The system can print the profile information of the member for both
admin and ordinary users.

Home page HGM Boutiques categories of products.

About Us containing companys profile.

Contact Us form inquiries of members and non-members.

Products page containing pictures of HGM Boutique products and its

information.

Shopping cart page containing products ordered by the clients.

Forgot password for members who forgot their password.

Out of Scope:

No payment transaction process.

Delivery process depends on the instruction agreed by the company

and the consumer.

Hardware
This system is in-need of using any gadgets connected to internet and in capable
in browsing any website to perform the transactions within the client and the
system operator.

Data Gathering Instrument

23

The method of collecting data to be used will be the survey, or also

known as normative survey. It is a fact-finding study with adequate and accurate
interpretation. Survey makes possible the formulation of generalizations because
the sample has a high degree of representativeness. It is less expensive and is
easy to determine, construct, validate and administer ideas from the book of
Calderon & Gonzales (2010).
The questionnaire is the instrument to be used for collecting data.
According to Calderon & Gonzales (2010) this instrument is easy to construct,
distribution is easy and inexpensive and responses are easy to tabulate. The
respondents will be the management and staff of HGM Boutique.

Questionnaire
The researchers are intended only to use questionnaires as form of
interview. This study used the quota probability type of sampling as the
researchers have determined specific numbers of respondents who will be
included in the sample. The respondents of this study will be the owner (1), (4)
employees and five (5) clients of HGM Boutique.

Observation
The manager as focus of attention and in-control along the Boutique, the
time consumed waiting for a client and a lack of advertisements .

Significance of the Study

24

This section shows a short description on a number of the importance of the

study.

To the Owner Study shows that it helped a lot to the owner and finds out
that the system has lessen his time in administering HGM Boutique.
To the Company This study has helped the company in finding if the use of
online ordering system will enhance their marketing strategies and their manual
procedures.
To the Employees This study had helped the employees in finding out if the
use of online ordering system will ease their work in managing their clients
orders.
To the Clients This study had helped the clients in knowing if the use of online
ordering system will ease their burdens in finding for their needed products and
to have a complete background of the companys services though this website.
To the future researchers - This study had helped them in having an initial
idea on what topic to choose and a guide if they have the same topic as this
research and contribute knowledge on how to make an online ordering system.
