Juvenile Court Judge in the history of Cincinnati, Ohio.

She fought voter suppression in a historic election lawsuit in

2010 to force the Board of Election to count provisional votes in

Black and poor communities to prove she won the election given
to her white Republican opponent. After 18 months, she forced

to be counted, was declared the rightful winner of the

election and sworn in as Judge 18 months late. Her election

lawsuit, Hunter v BOE changed election law in Ohio and now

all provisional ballots must be counted.

She immediately began implementing juvenile and criminal

justice reform.

She passed the first court order prohibiting the shackling of

juveniles in her courtroom in 2013 amidst great opposition.
After she led the way, the Ohio Supreme Court banned juvenile
shackling in Ohio courts in 2016.

She ordered prosecutors to turn over exculpatory evidence

including police reports in juvenile cases. After the First
District Court of Appeals overturned her decision, the Ohio
Supreme Court upheld Hunters rulings that became new law in
the State of Ohio.

She prohibited the media from publishing the names and faces
of juveniles after the KKK showed up at their elementary
school. She was held in contempt for protecting children from
harmful media exposure.
