the only broadcast Institute in

Australia directly connected to an
active commercial radio network
The Radio Training Institute was established in 1984. Since then many of our students have
gained employment and are still at regional and metropolitan radio stations throughout Australia
and other parts of the world as Announcers, Voice-Over Artists, Copywriters, News Readers, Sales
Consultants, Promotions and Marketing Personnel, Journalists and Music and Program Directors.
We are owned and operated as a division of ACE Radio Broadcasters, which makes us the only
Broadcast Institute in Australia directly connected to an active commercial radio network(which
includes GOLD 1242 / TRFM Traralgon, 3CS / MIXX FM Colac, 3SH / MIXX FM Swan Hill, 3WM /
MIXX FM Horsham, 3HA / MIXX FM Hamilton, 2AY Albury and 3YB / COAST FM Warrnambool).
Our ongoing research and constant contact with the industry ensures that the knowledge and
practical skills you learn at the Radio Training Institute are being applied at radio stations today.
In addition to the ACE Network, other regional and metropolitan radio stations throughout
Australia seek assistance from the Radio Training Institute in filling vacancies. As a result, many
of our former students have begun their radio careers this way.
We are constantly looking for students with potential, enthusiasm and natural ability, in the
hope of offering them assistance in finding employment within the radio industry. As new radio
broadcast licenses are issued throughout Australia, employment prospects are bright and further
opportunities will exist for those with broadcast knowledge in the rapidly changing Communications,
Online and IT environments. The Radio Training Institute would like to ensure you are ready for this.

FAQ

Do I need a good voice to study and work in radio?

How do I enrol?

No! Having a great sounding voice can be a learned and developed

skill which for many students, begins at the commencement of a
radio course. Also, these days radio isnt just about having a radio
voice its more about being a good communicator with personality.

You will need a copy of the applicable enrolment form for the
course of your choice. These can be downloaded from our website,
or contact us and we can e-mail / mail a form to you along with any
further information you require.

Who teaches the courses?

Can I come in to view the facilities at RTI?

We have a large team of lecturers who are current to the radio

industry and are experts in their chosen area. They come from radio
stations such as 3AW, FOX and Nova to name a few. You can read
about our lecturers in detail on our website.

Of course, we encourage and welcome prospective students to

come in for a visit and tour the facilities. Please contact us to arrange
a suitable time.

Will the course get me a job in radio?

Yes. Being owned by a commercial radio network (ACE Radio

Broadcasters) has ensured we are connected and well recognised
across the industry nation wide and more recently the Board of the
industry representative body, Commercial Radio Australia, have
endorsed and supported our role by offering us assistance in a number
of ways, including recommendation of our courses on their website.

Of course we cant guarantee you will get a job in radio. We work

very closely with all students on completion of their study, which
really assists in them gaining employment. The assistance we offer
can include, industry based placement, demo recording, resume
advice and providing radio contacts. We also work closely with a
range of Australian radio stations and networks, providing them
with potential staff and as a result, many RTI students have been
employed. The more students that are employed in the industry the
better that is for all of us.

How big are your classes?

Nice and small: Maximum students for our courses varies from
about 9-12 students.

Is the Radio Training Institute recognised in the industry?

I would like to pay via instalments but would prefer

a different payment plan than what is specified,
is this possible?
Yes. We can be flexible when it comes to instalment arrangements.
Please contact Heidi to discuss.
