Spring is natures way
of saying, Lets Party!.
And party we will! Our annual Spring Fair is on Sunday 19th October,
you can read more about it on page 2. There is also an exciting schedule of

when they return. Spring also brings the release of 25th Avenue a secluded
court, with only 8 villas and central access to village facilities.

Come & See our GARDEN

Based on the English Country Manor style, the village gardens are a constant
delight to behold. Manicured, colourful and interesting, with meandering
pathways, boardwalks, and feature plants, the grounds at Renaissance Victoria
Point create a welcoming and pleasant environment.
The village comprises 17 hectares, or nearly 50 acres, and is a full time job for the gardening team which works on a
schedule maintaining the front and back patios of 52 units a week. Along with planting 12,000 plants for around 30
new villas a year, it is easy to see how they have their work cut out for them rain, hail or shine.
All the gardens and lawns are irrigated by recycling the water from the two original dams on the property which have
also been built into the design of the village as attractive natural features. Rainwater is directed from the rooves of the
villas and roads through swales which filter the water.
The dams form part of the Eprapah Creek catchment and are home to various wildlife including turtles, fish and birds.
This peaceful environment is enhanced with natural pathways and seating for relaxation and leisure.

Spring Fair

Our annual fair day has grown in to a major community event which attracts crowds of visitors from all over
South East Queensland to experience the fun activities, market stalls, street entertainment and delicious food.
This year we have many new attractions including a photo booth like youve never seen before,
inspiring cooking demonstrations with The Contented Chef, a seedling potting station, street
performers and local entertainment. Bring your family and friends to enjoy a great day
out at our 6th annual Fair this Spring. We are located just a short walk from the
bus interchange at Victoria Pt. Parking is available in the adjacent shopping centre.
Walk past Centre Management though our gate and straight into the village.

Q & A with

Dawn resident for 6 months
Q: Why did you decide to move to a retirement village?
A: I decided to move to a retirement village mainly for the lifestyle it offers.
I have been widowed for many years and whilst I have lots of good
caring friends. I find I still have to work hard at organising outings etc.
With village life most of this is already arranged for me but I still have
the choice of seeing my friends and family whenever I choose.
Q: What has the process of moving in to a village been like for you?
A: The move to the village was quite smooth but not without the usual
stress that goes with such a move. However the staff at the village
were always ready and willing to offer assistance whenever requested.
Q: Why did you choose the villa you moved in to?
A: Initially I chose my villa because I missed out on another villa, but
now I am very happy as it is brand new and very comfortable. I have
a Keppel which suits me to a tee having 2 bedrooms and a study.
Q: What are your favourite things about living at Renaissance?
A: I have not been in the village for long but I love the choices the village
offers and also I have found all of the residents to be very helpful and
very welcoming, warm and friendly.
Q: Have you taken up any new hobbies or activities since retiring?
A: So far I have not taken up any new interests since being in the village,
but a lot of the activities I am already interested in and will be pursuing
them in the very near future. Overall I am very pleased and happy that
I moved to Renaissance.

The University of the Third Age is an affordable education provider which
gives their members an opportunity to study and learn in a relaxed
environment. We are delighted to be a learning location for U3A Redlands
and its members who now attend multiple classes in the Leisure Centre at

Brisbane Tonight, Renaissance Style

Celebrating the 55th Birthday of television in Queensland, residents, guests and
Channel 9 employees past and present relived some nostalgic moments from the
years past. A live and instantaneous television program was produced the old
fashion way and hosted by Hugh Cornish on Saturday 16th August with a large
crowd watching on.
There was lots of laughter and plenty of memories with flashback footage to the golden years of Queensland television
as it will never be seen again. Hugh entertained the 250 strong audience with guest performances and interviews with
some of Channel 9s most renowned personalities. Making the night extra special were original crew members behind
the scenes operating cameras, lighting and sound it was a trip down memory lane for all.

Roaring Twenties Night

On Tuesday night, 20 May, the Moongalba Room was converted to a Speakeasy.
The ghost of Al Capone lurked in the shadows, the Moonshine was disguised in
black bottles and consumed out of teacups; there were gangsters in black shirts
with white ties and scarves, and a variety of hats, enough of them to handle the
anticipated Police raid. Black and Silver balloons set the colour scheme, the Walter
Willens trio obliged by blending in with the dcor as they belted out favourite
numbers from the 20s.
Around 150 residents and friends carried on the Renaissance tradition of dressing up
in the spirit of the occasion. The numerous glamorous outfits of the women featured
headbands, feathers, fluffy stoles, furs, and glittering jewellery, with swinging fringes adorning sexy short dresses.
Daring high heels completed many outfits. The theme of the evening trumpeted Lets have Fun!
At one point of the celebrations the fun was dampened by the entrance of Tammy Temperance (aka Lisa Leishman),
who, rattling her tambourine, preached the evils of the Demon Drink, displayed on her large placard. Alas, Tammy
received a chorus of laughs and no obvious converts to her cause.
The highlights of the evening were the elegant meal and the
enthusiastic dancing between courses, as the Willens trio wooed the
audience with nostalgic reminders of a bygone decade. Warm thanks
are due for the imaginative planning of this highly successful evening,
by Dulcie, Wendy, Hugh, Pat and their helpers; thanks also to the
bar staff who spent many tiring hours on their feet.
