What is the function of the relay?

Relays are switches that open and close circuits electromechanically or

electronically. Relays control one electrical circuit by opening and closing contacts in
another circuit. As relay diagrams show, when a relay contact is normally open (NO), there
is an open contact when the relay is not energized.

What is the protection relay?

In electrical engineering, a protective relay is a device designed to trip a circuit breaker
when a fault is detected.

What is a plug setting multiplier?

Plug setting multiplier of relay is referred as ratio of fault current in the relay to its pick up
current. Suppose we have connected on protection CT of ratio 200/1 A and current setting is
150%. Hence, pick up current of the relay is, 1 150 % = 1.5 A.
