Amy was walking home from school one hot afternoon. Suddenly, she saw an old
man sitting by the roadside. The old man was groaning in pain and his face was as white
as a sheet. Amy quickly approached the old man.
Uncle, are you all right ? she asked the old man.
It hurts here. Just now I fell down because I was feeling dizzy, replied the old man
while holding his elbow.
Amy felt sorry for the old man. Luckily, she had a bottle of medicated oil in her
school bag. She took it out and applied some oil on the old mans forehead. Amy also
gave the old man a bottle of water. After a few minutes, the old man felt better. Amy
helped the old man to his feet. Then , she walked the old man to a nearby taxi station.
The old man thanked Amy profusely for her kindness. Amy felt happy and when she
reached home, she told her parents what had happened.

Question 22
Read the story below and answer the questions that follow.
Hanif , Ravi and John are best friends. They go to the same school and they are in the
same classroom. Since they live nearby , they walk to school together every day. They would
chat and joke around on the way to school.
The three friends would do their revisions in the library together every afternoon.
Sometimes they will go to the library after classes.

In the evening, they would go to the

basketball court to play basketball with the other kids in their neighbourhood.

They do

everything together and they are inseparable.


The examination is just around the corner and the three best friends spend more time in
the library to study. By the time the exam arrive , they are very confident. A week after the
examination is over, they receive their results. Ravi was very unhappy because his results are
the lowest of the three. Ravi accused his friends of studying together without him so that they
could get more marks and better results than him.

Hanif and John are angry at Ravis

accusation. They do not try to correct the misunderstanding and decide to leave him out from
their usual activities after that.
After a few days, Ravi realises his fault and apologises to his friends for his behavior.
Hanif and John accept Ravis apology . Hanif and John do not like to be accused of something
that they did not do. Ravi promises not to repeat the same mistake again.
