Q1.
During my summer break16, I worked as an intern at Pakistan Crescent Youth
Organisation (PCYO). PCYO is an NGO which works for women empowerment and also aims
to increase youth involvement in socio economic issues.
The internship program was for 35-45 days. I completed my internship in 40 days. The
internship program consisted of four stages. In the first stage, I had to sell 25 donation tickets in
a week. In the second stage, I had to come up with a topic for my research which was supposed
to be narrowed down at a specific locality. I did my research on Reasons and Consequences of
Domestic Abuse in the villages of Sohawa. I also came up with a detailed plan, within the
budget, as a solution for one of the villages in Sohawa. We had 10 days to complete this task.
At stage three we had to make a team of 5 people and at stage four I had to lead them to do a
campaign related the social cause I was working on. I made a team in 5 days and the rest 18
days were spent on doing campaign on social media.
During the first stage, selling donation tickets required convincing ability because people
wanted their donated money to be used efficiently and effectively. During the second stage, a lot
of time was required. I had to read plenty of research articles and extract relevant information.
Also I had to look for other information related the locality I was working on. Third and last stage
was the most challenging stage for me, as a lot of patience was required to be leader of my
team. This internship made me use my leadership skills, convincing skills, team building skills,
problem solving skills.
Time and effort are the two main resources that are used to do anything. More than time,
this internship required effort and Im glad to not only use up my skills but I also got a chance to
improve them. I learned different ways to motivate people to perform well, strategy
implementation, entrepreneur approach to problem solving, presentation, confidence, efficiency
and online advocacy skills.

Q2
For operations management project, we have to study operations for a specific
organization. We have to analyse capacities and utilizations of each process stage, identify
bottlenecks, and how does the organization effectively handle high and low demand.
During my internship I had a very good idea that how does the stage based work goes
about. If I hadn't complete my research, it was impossible to start my campaign on that very
cause. The efficiency in each stage was not the same.Stage two, which was writing a research
paper was not difficult for me so I completed that before time, but stage four where I had to
make five people work up to the mark was a something challenging. So during the project, I
would expect that we would find efficiency and inefficiency both in the workflow. Not every stage
performs upto the mark or at its full capacity. After a practical experience I think I can now more
easily identify bottlenecks, for example, selling donation tickets was a bottleneck. My 5 team
members also had to sell the tickets, so I had to wait quite a few days for them to get done, or
else my internship would have ended a week earlier.
