Self Service Portal for Oracle AWR Analysis
Today Oracle Database is extensively used at large enterprise for Business Critical Apps including ERP
applications. Here the DB availability becomes critical and any performance issue leads to a business outage.
To diagnose such performance problems, Oracle DB generates AWR report with many types of cumulative
statistics for the system, sessions, and individual SQL statements. However this hasnt made the analysis
simpler. This requires an Oracle experts to run through the long report and diagnose the bottlenecks.
Oracle AWR Analyzer Bot simplifies AWR Analysis. It is a Self Service Solution that anyone can load the AWR
report and get the result. The Bot analyzes the report and comes out with Inference, Key Metrics and possible
Recommendations. This has been developed in collaboration with BAS OEA team.
Current Challenges

AWR report contains no concrete recommendations for action

DBA requires in-depth expertise in area of performance tuning. Moreover analysis and
recommendation will differ with each DBA, thus inconsistency
Long turnaround time to interpret AWR report, arriving at root cause analysis results into business
impact
Manual report analysis can be prone to false assumptions in identifying the bottlenecks

Solution AWR Analyzer BOT

AWR Analyzer BOT is an expert system for intelligent analysis of AWR report. These diagnostic algorithms are
defined by the Oracle SMEs knowledge and experience.

How does it work?

Extraction engine extracts raw data from the report and calculates various key metrics. Then AWR
Analyzer Engine processes the data and identifies the problem area and relevant inference. It also
suggests action that DBA to perform to further diagnose or to resolve the issue.

View of Impact on Performance Performs several health checks grouped under different
category like SQL, IO and CPU and lists the details of performance issues
Problem Summary - Provides a detailed analysis of the tuning opportunities and the areas of the
system that are performing well
