Problem: Sense of being trapped

Men do not associate their personal feats with the ups and downs
of society. They are seldom aware of the connection between
personal and social realities

Ordinary men feel that they cannot cope with larger worlds and
think they are trapped in their personal lives

Context: The Age of Fact

Info is available yet overwhelming.

What people need is the frame of mind to

see information in such away that they can
connect their personal experiences with
social realities

The quality of this frame of mind is called

the 'sociological imagination'

The solution: The sociological imagination

The sociological
imagination lets people
grasp the connection
between history and
biography.

The an individual
contributes to society
however small.

Understand the bigger

picture and how it
affects inner and
external lives of
individuals.

It enables people to be
involved with public
issues

the individual will be

aware of the
circumstances around
him/her
