    Issues to be addressed in design of gate driver are


    1. Duty ration range
    2. Reset mechanism
    3. dv/dt clamp
    4. protection
    When main switch is off, there will be a sudden change in the voltage across of stray
    capacitance across main switch. To protect the main switch from this problem a clamp or
    negative voltage is connected as shown in fig 1.

    During the off time of main switch, in order to avoid circulation of current through
    transformer side a switch is placed in the same path which will be off when main switch is
    off (Fig 2).

    In order to avoid resonance between the primary winding of the transformer and D-S
    capacitance of primary BJT, resonance is created with externally connected capacitor, diode
    and BJT configuration as shown on fig 3.
