Technology Institute
The NAPTIN certification programme has been designed to ensure that all workers in the renewable energy
field have received thorough, standardized training in all areas of the design, installation, operation and
maintenance of renewable energy systems - particularly as pertains to the Nigerian environment. The NAPTIN
certificate thereby guarantees the high service quality and output of renewable energy staff throughout
Nigeria. PNN will work with the Renewable Energy Technology Institute (RETI), the implementation partner, to
deliver a programme that meets international standards and consolidates training initiatives across Nigeria for
all persons, establishments and institutions that will participate in the growing renewable energy sector.
Improved standards of training for all personnel in the renewable energy sector
NAPTIN certification for all participants, qualifying them to work anywhere in the
A guarantee of high service quality and output among renewable energy staff
Better use of national resources in the design, implementation and maintenance of renewable energy
installations nationwide
TRAINING SCOPE
RE101: Introduction to Renewable Energy Systems
Renewable energy sources, energy use, energy conversion, power and energy. The introductory course
provides a comprehensive overview of renewable energies, including solar energy, wind power, hydropower,
fuel cells, biomass, and alternative transportation options. Students will learn the principles of solar home
design, solar hot water, pool and space heating and solar cooling for both new and existing
construction. Students will learn how to assess the viability of a wind power, hydropower or biomass system
for a given site. Students will also learn about the impact of government regulations on the use of clean and
renewable energy.
TRAINING DURATION
1 WEEK
ELIGIBILITY
The training programme caters to all employees and personnel in the renewable energy
sector. It will train persons in the design, installation, maintenance and operations of
renewable energy systems.
Targeted participants will work within the renewable energy field, and include:
Federal, state and local government staff working in sector-relevant ministries,
departments and agencies
Engineers, managers, technical officers and staff of corporate bodies
Financial institutions/financiers
Renewable energy trainers
Individuals
Opportunities abound for involvement in the green sector, which is growing quickly in
Nigeria. Individuals and organisations with an interest in the field are welcome to
participate in the training programme and get NAPTIN-certified to contribute to the
development of renewable energy in Nigeria.
