Use the Topic 3 Reading Protect rights of stakeholders and Internet research to help you
answer the questions.
1. Give a definition of a stakeholder in an organisation.
Answer: Stakeholder is a person, group or organisation who involve in an
organization directly or indirectly to perform organizations action plans objectives
and policies.
2. As a TAFE student you are considered a stakeholder in TAFE. List three other groups
that would be considered stakeholders in TAFE.
Answer: Managers, IT people, and Teachers
3. Visit the Australian Government ComLaw site http://www.comlaw.gov.au. Search for
the Electronic Transactions Act 1999., and view the Act online. Answer the
following questions.
a) When was the Act last amended?
Answer: It was amended on 22 June 2011
b) Describe the object of the Act ( Read Part 1 3 Object)
Answer: The object of this Act is to provide a regulatory framework that:

recognises the importance of the information economy to the future economic and
social prosperity of Australia; and
facilitates the use of electronic transactions; and
promotes business and community confidence in the use of electronic transactions;
and
enables business and the community to use electronic communications in their
dealings with government.

4. Visit the TAFE NSW website at https://www.tafensw.edu.au/ . In the ABOUT TAFE


NSW section, click Policies and Procedures.
a) List three policies that are listed here.
Answer: The Policies are categorized according to the different sections which are
listed here:
Administration and Management Policies
Computers and Internet Policies

b) Click the See policies and procedures link. Search for the Release of Student
Information Policy and view this policy. Read the objective of the policy
statement. What are the two objectives of this policy?

Answer:

Where disclosure of the information is for the purpose for which it is


collected; for example, Centrelink checks
Where disclosure of the information is necessary to prevent or lessen a serious
and imminent threat to the life or health of the student concerned or to another
person

c) Can TAFE release student information to a third party? Explain your answer.
Answer: No , but if there is a written consent from any student then TAFE can release
any students information to the third party.
5. What is the purpose of the W3C accessibility standards?
Answer: W3C is a World Wide Web Consortium Standard which aims to ensure
that any web contents should be accessible to any users including those with
disabilities in a most easy format.
