Assumptions
Street lights use 120V
Each sequential light in a string alternates the 120V leg it is fed from
All non streetlight load is divided equally between both legs
Neutral currents cancel
Ignoring current contribution of uncalculated 120V leg in cable, assume negligible

Calculation Method:
Voltage Drop = Vs-Vr
Vs = Square Root of ((Vr*sine(phi) + I*Xloop)^2+(V r*cos(phi)+I*Rloop)^2) - Vr
Vr =Receiving End Voltage = 120 V (Assume balanced loading on each 120V leg)
where cos(phi) = power factor
phi=arccos(pf)
I = Load Current = (1000*Lots Served*Demand per Service)/(V r*Diversity Factor)

Lights 2:
Ignore voltage drop between
xmer and ped combo. Voltage
drop calculations are still
needed if a service drop from
this ped is >100m.
Lights 1:
Also include voltage drop above
steetlights due to services. (Not
applicable in this example as the ped is
attached to the xmer).
245669
245595
Services 3:
Total 12 lots are being
served dodwnstream of
this cable
245671
Services 2:
Total 6 lots are
being served
downstream of
this cable
245594
245596
Services 1:
Begin at the furthest point from the
transformer:
One service on this #2 cable for lot 18.
A voltage drop calculation is required on the
longest service drop from each pedestal. (ie
one calc per pedestal).
See "Voltage Drop Calc" Tap for an example
245670
Lights 3:
Alternate lights on streetlight
cable. Only include lights on
longest leg of streetlights. In
this case only include 245670
in the calculation.
Also include voltage drop
above steetlights due to
services. (Not applicable in this
example as the ped is attached
to the xmer). See "Streetlights
+120 leg" tab for an example
calculation.
The voltage drop limit for each run must be specified in the
calculation tab by the consultant.
The default values are:
3.3% for normal service feed
5% for alternate service feed
5% for streetlights
ATCO Electric may specify larger or smaller allowable
voltage drops for any subdivision. These other values will be
based on ATCO Electric's voltage at the primary side of the
transformer. They will be calculated to deliver minimum
voltage levels at the customer's meter.

Added 200A services, changed current summing to avoid double counting load, added column for "3 of
lots served on this cable", updated assumptions, updated example tab
Added "0" lots to diversity look-up table to allow for cable sections where no extra load is added.
Combined residential lots and street lights into one sheet. Fixed calculation errors.
Updated the voltage drop limit as per the URD specification clause 3.4.2.
Updated the voltage drop limist to 3% Normal Feed and 7.5% Alternate Feed
